The two banks are adorned with various fragrant flowers, and beautiful birds of all kinds, swans, ducks, peacocks, and many other emanated birds, proclaim the unchanging nature of reality, permanence, stability, solidity, and vajra. Uttering the extremely pleasant sound of "Yungdrung," it is fragrant with the scent of excellent incense such as agarwood and sandalwood. In the Glorious Stainless Light, it says that south of Kalapa is the garden of Malaya, twelve yojanas in extent, equal to the city of Kalapa. In its center is the palace of the Wheel of Time, eight hundred cubits. To its east is the Lake of Nearness, twelve yojanas in extent, and to the west is the White Lotus Lake, twelve yojanas in extent. Thus it is said. Outside the outer eight petals of the lotus, there is a surrounding range of snow mountains with a width of five hundred yojanas. Within it, on the eight lotus petals, there are ninety-six kotis of cities, each completely identical. In the Great Commentary Stainless Light, it says that a hundred yojanas, with mountains possessing the measure of the transformation of an arrow, surround the four directions, which is the glorious Shambhala. The king of all of these is an emanation of the Subduer of Hindrances, called Sunlight. His son is an emanation of Vajrapani, the Glorious Good Moon, is born. Also, in the south of India, there is the great stupa of Glorious Dhanyakataka, six yojanas in height and one krosha in width, below which is the mandala of the Lord of Speech of the Dharmadhatu, and above which is the manifestation of the Glorious Great Star. When the Teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni, was in the place of Great Bliss, on the vajra lion throne of the Vajradhatu mandala, the Bhagavan was abiding in the samadhi of the Kalachakra, surrounded by the retinue of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, wrathful deities, nagas, and hosts of goddesses arranged in the mandala. The petitioner, King Good Moon of Shambhala, came by the power of miraculous abilities and requested, bestowing empowerments of the mundane and supramundane, praising the union verses of the first Buddha of the Supreme Root Tantra, a thousand shlokas.
