Instructions for Achieving Enlightenment in the Bardo for Those of Medium Faculty and Diligence. Instructions for Achieving Enlightenment in the Bardo for Those of Medium Faculty and Diligence. The Bardo of Naturalness. In the middle, the third section of the beneficial meaning instructions, in the subsequent instructions. Among the two stages of instructions for those of medium and lower faculties and diligence. First, the instructions for achieving enlightenment in the bardo for those of medium faculty and diligence: If one has sharp faculties and excellent diligence, but is hindered by circumstances, or for those of medium faculty who engage in hearing and contemplation, it is said that they can be liberated in any of the four bardos before death. Therefore, one must learn the instructions for liberation now. Generally, the appearances that arise as the ground appearing as wisdom are the pure bardo of dharmata, and all phenomena included in the six realms of samsara are the impure bardo of delusion. From the ground of primordial purity, the mind with its seeds, until it is not perfected in the ground of re-emergence, is the bardo. Specifically, here, as stated in the root tantra, "There are four types of distinctions." The bardo of naturalness, the bardo of dying, the bardo of dharmata, and the bardo of existence. Among the four defined boundaries of the bardo, the first is: From the completion of birth in the mother's womb until one is afflicted by a severe, certain-to-die illness, it is called the bardo of naturalness or the bardo of the birth-place. For this, one needs instructions like a captain going to the Golden Isle or a wren entering its nest, which cut through conceptual elaborations through hearing and contemplation. Just as a captain gathers provisions for a ship and a wren inspects its nest, from now on, rely on a noble lama and diligently engage in the activities of hearing, contemplation, and meditation as he instructs, without giving in to laziness or procrastination, and cut through conceptual elaborations. Even when the time of death arrives, one should be joyful and eager, like a son going to his father's house, without sadness or fear. The Bardo of Dying. The second is: From the approach of death until the inner breath ceases, it is called the bardo of dying. For this, one needs instructions like a king sending a messenger or a beautiful woman looking in a mirror to clarify what is unclear. Although this instruction is not necessary for those of the Great Perfection who die like children without calculating the signs of death, where they will die, or when they will die, it is necessary for those of medium capacity.

For the superior person, death will not be harmed by external circumstances, like a beggar dying at the crossroads of villages and roads; for the intermediate person, death will not be harmed by external circumstances, like wild animals and lions dying in deserted mountain caves and snowy places, etc. There are two instructions for these. The instruction for entering the body and wisdom, the clear light absorption, is: Now, when the sky is clear, the body should be in the lion posture, or any of the three sitting postures, focusing awareness on the sphere of reality. Thinking, "I निश्चित (Tibetan: བདག, Sanskrit Devanagari: निश्चित, Sanskrit Romanization: niścita, Chinese literal meaning: निश्चित) am certainly at the time of death, so I should pass away into sorrow in the realm of non-elaboration," exhale the breath and leave the consciousness without attachment to the outside. Become accustomed to this. When the time comes, also remain in the lion posture, etc., focusing consciousness on the eyes, and the eyes on awareness. In the state of original purity, remain without contraction or expansion, and in this state, abandon the aggregates of life, and in an instant you will be liberated. This is called the introduction to the secret path, a very swift and profound key point. The instruction for entering places and locations, the transference of consciousness, is: According to the general oral instructions for the profound path of transference, especially when the last breath goes out, visualize the awareness in the heart as a white "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), rising up from the Brahma hole. At the same time, recite "ഹിക് (Tibetan: ཧིཀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हिक्, Sanskrit Romanization: hik, Chinese literal meaning: हिക്)" twenty-one times in succession, merging with it and becoming accustomed to it. When the time comes, also visualize it clearly in this way, and without relying on the stages of absorption, you will be liberated and pass into sorrow by the method of transference of a Bodhisattva. The "Union of Sun and Moon" says: The way to enter body and wisdom is to focus awareness in this way. The body takes the lion posture. Awareness is focused on the eyes. For a moment, walk in the path of space. If the sphere of reality and awareness are not swift, then there is no doubt that this person will attain enlightenment without an intermediate state. It also says: The way to enter places and locations is the instruction for transferring consciousness to a village and entering a village. Consciousness rides on the wind and is purified. It is important to be skilled in the upper part. It is important to gather and release awareness. This is also released by "ഹിക് (Tibetan: ཧིཀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हिक्, Sanskrit Romanization: hik, Chinese literal meaning: हिക്)". This must be in accordance with the guru's oral instructions. For the intermediate person, even if they have received the oral instructions, if they do not have the key points, or for the general situation of ordinary people, the stages of absorption of earth, water, fire, and wind, the way the breath escapes, and the stages of absorption of appearances will occur in order. Among them, the "Union of Sun and Moon" says: Earth dissolves into earth, the body is heavy and unable to rise, the strength to stand and walk
