Now, whether focusing on the object or gradually counting, maintain concentration for a longer period, and experience a bodily comfort that is free from unconscious distraction and dullness, a comfort never before experienced, pervading the entire body, and a joy accompanied by faith pervading the mind. The extent of abiding in this is: Just like this, the yogi should always practice and become familiar with the contemplation of impurity. Due to repeated practice, no matter what the state, as long as the object appears and its characteristics can be clearly distinguished, even without deliberate effort, the impure appearance will naturally manifest. For example, because one is very familiar with the contemplation of impurity, the mind will not engage with, delight in, or be interested in the attachment to desire and things that are in accordance with desire, but will remain calm and averse. If one is always in this state of disharmony, then the yogi should realize that he has attained the contemplation of impurity, that he has attained the fruit of practice. Just like that, one has attained the contemplation of impurity. So, the method of relying on it is: After knowing that the mind is abiding, one should understand that the number of meditation sessions should be less than before, but the duration of each session should be slightly longer. Meditate also in the evening and at dawn. Do not exert effort on concentration, but focus on the clarity that appeared before. As long as the body feels tired, or the mind feels exhausted, fearful, powerless, or the head feels heavy, or there is shaking, trembling, or lack of sleep, or loss of appetite, or frequent slips of the tongue, etc., as long as slight symptoms of discomfort appear, one should continue to meditate. Once these symptoms appear, one should rest, massage the body, and enhance the body's energy with Dharma-compliant food and drink. Until the body recovers, meditate day and night, and when one wants to meditate, just contemplate briefly each time. Once the body has recovered, meditate once each in the evening and at dawn, and about three times during the day, and each time should be longer than the previous one. So, what is the illusion that needs to be recognized? Regarding this, although it appears very clearly in consciousness, it is not actually real in its own nature, that is the illusion. For example, in a dream state, one's own body becomes ill, or one curses the external body.

It is like clearly appearing even though lotuses and so on are not there. For the wisdom of meditation, these unattractive things that appear very clearly in the external environment as if they were cut off are not truly existent in their own nature, so it is a delusion of the mind itself. The Bhagavan said in the Lankavatara Sutra: "External forms do not exist; it is the appearance of one's own mind externally." Therefore, although it does not actually exist, it appears as if it exists, which shows the meaning of reversal, so it is a delusion. Do not generate the thought, "This is a true unattractive thing," but rather, rely on any reasoning that will necessarily cause the unborn to arise, and generate vipassana. Although the way of action is inconceivable, it is not impossible for wisdom to be shallow because of self-grasping, but because I do not pursue the true meaning and have not heard the teachings of the wise, it is written after considering the benefits. Just as someone with cataracts looks at objects and then points out to others, "What is this?" please forgive me, wise ones. A little has been written about the method of abiding the mind through the gate of unattractiveness, finished. The method of abiding the mind through the gate of unattractiveness.
