"Extensive Commentary on the Principal Buddha," by Yeshe De. "Extensive Commentary on the Principal Buddha" Yeshe De. Herein lies the text of "Extensive Commentary on the Principal Buddha." Homage to the Principal Buddha! Homage to the Dharma that protects! Homage to the great Sangha! Homage always to the Three Jewels! The Buddha is explained through five aspects of meaning. What are these? They are: the perfection of cause, the perfection of result, the perfection of nature, the perfection of self-benefit, and the perfection of benefiting others. Thus, it is explained through five aspects of meaning. Here, the phrase "perfecting the two great accumulations" indicates the perfection of cause. Perfecting the two great accumulations refers to the two accumulations of merit and wisdom. What are they? The six perfections are included within the two accumulations. Among them, the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, and within the perfection of meditation, the four immeasurables such as the samadhi of loving-kindness, and all the conceptual samadhis such as the samadhi of the gods, and one part of diligence are gathered into the accumulation of merit. Within meditation, the three doors of liberation, etc., and the samadhi of suchness, the perfection of wisdom, and one part of diligence are gathered into the accumulation of wisdom. Thus, the perfection of the two great accumulations is the perfection of cause. The phrase "achieving the four wisdoms and three bodies" indicates the perfection of result. The four wisdoms refer to the four types of wisdom. What are the four? They are: mirror-like wisdom, the wisdom of equality, discriminating wisdom, and accomplishing wisdom. What exactly are they? When the eight consciousnesses undergo transformation in the state of an ordinary being, they transform into the four wisdoms. Among them, when the alaya-consciousness undergoes transformation, it transforms into mirror-like wisdom. When the afflicted mind (klesha-manas) undergoes transformation, it transforms into the wisdom of equality. When the mind-consciousness undergoes transformation in the state of an ordinary being, it transforms into discriminating wisdom. When the five sense consciousnesses undergo transformation,

It will become the wisdom of accomplishing activities. Thus, the four wisdoms are these. The three bodies are the Dharmakaya, the Sambhogakaya, and the Nirmanakaya. What are these? If we combine the four wisdoms and the three bodies, then the mirror-like wisdom is combined with the Dharmakaya; the wisdom of equality and the wisdom of discernment are combined with the Sambhogakaya; the wisdom of accomplishing activities is combined with the Nirmanakaya. Thus, these three bodies and four wisdoms are the result of perfecting the two accumulations, therefore it is called the perfection of the fruit. "Without discrimination, knowing everything clearly." The appearance of this phrase shows the perfection of self-nature. Regarding this, the self-nature of all Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, does not have even a speck of discrimination, and for all defilements, purifications, conditioned, unconditioned, outer container world, inner sentient world, etc., in all the ten directions of the world, all the phenomena that exist, all of them are clearly known without error, just like placing an Emblica fruit in the palm of the hand. Therefore, it is said, "Without discrimination, knowing everything clearly." Like this, it is the self-nature of all Buddhas. "The Dharmakaya is like space, the Rupakaya possesses beautiful form." The appearance of this phrase shows the perfection of our benefit. Regarding this, the Dharmakaya of the Buddha is not form, it is free from all discriminations, it transcends all elaborations, it is truly without any object to grasp, for example, it is like space without any object to grasp, therefore it is said, "The Dharmakaya is like space." The Rupakaya appears beautiful to the individual consciousness of each being to be tamed, according to how they believe and have faith, therefore it is said, "The Rupakaya possesses beautiful form," that is, the Blessed One Vairochana, manifesting great enlightenment in Akanishta, in the mandala of the Bodhisattvas abiding on the great earth, adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks, enjoying the Dharma, and the Blessed One.
