Completed. Those with special words are: being the basis of special but not special, being special but not the basis of special, both being, and neither being. In the third case, it is special but not specially delicious. In the second case, it is not the basis of special either. The places where letters enter are eight: sound, language, name, sign, symbol, term, word, and meaning. Among them, sound is produced from what is grasped by consciousness, what is not grasped, and what is produced from both, divided into showing as sentient and not showing, showing as scripture and not showing. Language is fourfold: nature, fabricated, broken sound, and carnivorous. Name is the supreme word of the nature of all phenomena, the nature of the collection of letters. Sign is what is signified by this, the sign, which is the ability to appear. Symbol is what connects name and the named, the common aspect of sound and meaning, the nature of temporality that speaks to others. Term is the assumption of something that does not exist as something that exists, that is, everything including assumption, entry, and expression. Among them, symbol is the nature of making understood, while term is the nature of making entered. Word is the special supreme word of all phenomena, the nature of the collection of names. Meaning is how the phenomenon itself exists. So, how do letters enter these? From the entity of meaning arises the common aspect of meaning. From that arises the common aspect of sound. Symbol and term arise. In the period of symbol and term, there are the aspects of the collection of letters, the collection of names, and the collection of words. Among them, relying on the collection of causes and conditions, sound appears as its own characteristic, thereby obtaining the name called sound. When that sound causes the listener to generate the consciousness arising from the sound, it closes the door in the same way as in the previous period of symbol, thereby clarifying the common aspect. Therefore, expressing the common aspect of meaning as a fabricated nature, thereby understanding the characteristic of meaning itself, these are called the entry of letters. The places of distinction are eight: who, to whom, by whom, for whom, from whom, belonging to whom.

Regarding what, these, along with the vocative case, are seven cases; with the vocative, eight. These are the singular, dual, and plural forms. With three, there are twenty-one. Among these, the twenty-one letters that cause change, merely encountering sounds, have the meaning of being able to transform one sound into all sounds. This is called "vibhakta" (Tibetan: བི་བྷཀྟ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: विभक्त, Sanskrit Romanization: vibhakta, Literal Chinese meaning: case ending), which means to distinguish. It is not like changing only the essence of the sound, as in the place of action. Those are: si au jas prathamā (Tibetan: སི་ཨཽ་ཛས་པྲ་ཐ་མཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: सि औ जस् प्रथमा, Sanskrit Romanization: si au jas prathamā, Literal Chinese meaning: nominative singular, dual, plural), am au śas dvitīyā (Tibetan: ཨམ་ཨཽ་ཤས་དྭི་ཏཱི་ཡ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अम् औ शस् द्वितीया, Sanskrit Romanization: am au śas dvitīyā, Literal Chinese meaning: accusative singular, dual, plural), ṭā bhyāṃ bhis tṛtīyā (Tibetan: ཊཱ་བྷྱཾ་བྷི་ས་ཏྲི་ཏཱི་ཡ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: टा भ्यां भिस् तृतीया, Sanskrit Romanization: ṭā bhyāṃ bhis tṛtīyā, Literal Chinese meaning: instrumental singular, dual, plural), ḍe bhyāṃ bhyas caturthi (Tibetan: དེ་བྷྱཱཾ་བྷྱས་ཙ་ཏུརྠི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: डे भ्यां भ्यस् चतुर्थी, Sanskrit Romanization: ḍe bhyāṃ bhyas caturthi, Literal Chinese meaning: dative singular, dual, plural), ḍasi bhyāṃ bhyas pañcamī (Tibetan: ད་སི་བྷྱཱཾ་བྷྱས་པཉྩ་མི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: डसि भ्यां भ्यस् पञ्चमी, Sanskrit Romanization: ḍasi bhyāṃ bhyas pañcamī, Literal Chinese meaning: ablative singular, dual, plural), ṅas os ām ṣaṣṭhi (Tibetan: ངས་ཨོས་ཨཱ་མ་ཥཥྛི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ङस् ओस् आम् षष्ठी, Sanskrit Romanization: ṅas os ām ṣaṣṭhi, Literal Chinese meaning: genitive singular, dual, plural), ṅi os sup saptamī (Tibetan: ངི་ཨོས་སུབ་སཔྟ་མི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ङि ओस् सुप् सप्तमी, Sanskrit Romanization: ṅi os sup saptamī, Literal Chinese meaning: locative singular, dual, plural). When these are changed, each of the seven cases becomes: what, which, all what; to what, to which, to all what; by what, by which, by all what; for what, for which, for all what; from what, from which, from all what; of what, of which, of all what; to what, to which, to all what. This is the meaning of changing along with the vocative case. The state of directions is: knowing one sound, and knowing all directions by knowing one sound, and knowing all directions by knowing how many sounds, and knowing all dharmas by knowing the sound without direction. Those are distinguished by superior, middling, and inferior persons. The state of things is establishing the nature of things from the aspect of the subject, or establishing the meaning of things from the aspect of sound. This has been explained. The agent distinguishes differences, shows the action to be completely fulfilled, abbreviation reduces the letters, and also attaches relation or name. Transformation knows the power of transformation, and enters into the essence of language. Honesty is skilled in the purpose of what is said, and also knows how to eliminate others. Entering knows the symbols and terms, and understands the necessary connections. Distinguishing is skilled in the conditions of transformation, and is skilled in the noise of sounds. Directions know the superior, middling, and inferior persons, and things understand the basis of the meaning of things. Showing different names, and the relation between name and named, and showing different necessities. Some combinations are different, but the necessities are not different, showing those that are common on one side, know by the name of sound.
