The Hundred Verses, Supreme Attachment. The Hundred Verses Supreme Attachment. In Indian language: Shata Gatha. In Tibetan: The Hundred Verses. Homage to the Three Jewels! Learn when young, nourish the cow in constant times, plow the field when hail comes, these three are the cause of fruit ripening. The wise should learn at all times, even when youth has passed, if the fruit does not ripen in this life, it is easy to obtain in another life. One should strive for merits, what is the use of showing off? A cow without milk, even if a bell is hung, will not be bought. Those with merit like merit, those without merit do not like merit. Forest bees like lotuses in the lake, frogs are not like that even if they live together. Those with merit are rarely rich, and the rich rarely have merit. Although there are countless countries, the production of jewels is rare. Although there are countless beings, obtaining parents is very rare. Even if the holy ones live far away, the messenger is merit itself, just like the fragrance of the ketaka flower, bees will naturally come. Two kings with merit are not the same, nor are they similar, the king is respected in his own country, and the one with merit is respected everywhere. Time is short, the manifestations of wisdom are many, one should rely on what one cherishes. Even if a place is lived in for a long time, it will definitely be left eventually. If there is something special about leaving, then beings will not abandon themselves. Being unable to leave will cause endless pain in the heart. If one abandons these oneself, endless peace and happiness will arise. Even if living with non-holy ones, one will not mix like water and lotus. Even if the holy ones live in distant places, they will be as pleasing as the moon and the kumuda. One should abandon all noise, and strive to associate with the holy ones. Not being destroyed by disease, one day is better than a hundred years. One should abandon all desires, if one cannot abandon them, then crave liberation, that is its medicine. Even if many great stars rise, and the moon rises as the adornment of the earth, when the sun sets, it will become night. Except for the sun, one cannot distinguish east and west. Whatever rises

Even if it changes, without the sun there is no radiance. The rising of the sun is the best, what is the use of other risings? Like the head of a flower drooping, there are two kinds of conduct for the noble: either to be universally revered by all in the world, or to dwell alone in the forest. An untamed person arises from the source, evil words like poisoned arrows seize the noble. As an antidote to prevent those poisoned arrows, one should rely on wisdom and patience. Even if steadfast ones experience suffering, their minds will not be discouraged. When the moon is swallowed by Rahu, does it not still rise? For sentient beings, whoever's mind is filled with compassion, that is liberation and wisdom, not matted hair, ashes, or religious robes. For a fire that burns a forest, the wind becomes its friend. Without it, to extinguish the fire, the weak have no friends. Through others proclaiming each other, even the meritless become meritorious. If one proclaims one's own merits, even Indra will not become venerable. If someone is of noble birth but arrogant, and wealthy but miserly, then they are despised by the gods, like fire arising from water. If someone's mind is in harmony, even if they are far away, they are near. If someone's mind is not in harmony, even if they are near, they are far. Seeing the excellent wealth of others, if someone's mind becomes disturbed, they will fall. Not only will they not gain any benefit, but they will destroy their own merit. There is no stain like attachment, no harm like jealousy. There is no friend like begging, no relative like giving. There is no bodily pain like hunger, no bodily wasting like anger. There is no ornament like virtue, no armor like patience. For a miserly person, what is the use of having wealth? For a deceitful and jealous person, what is the use of having friends? For someone who harms others but has many merits, what is the use? For a friend who turns their back in times of poverty, what is the use? At all times, one should strive for one's own benefit, what is the use of boasting among many people? To make all people completely satisfied, such a method does not exist anywhere. One should be in harmony with the times.
