Explanation of the Introductory Topic of the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra, by Shakya's Wisdom. Explanation of the Introductory Topic of the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra. By Shakya's Wisdom. The Introductory Topic of the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra is present. Explanation of the Introductory Topic of the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra. Homage to youthful Manjushri! Regarding the term "great assembly of Bodhisattvas," "great" refers to qualities and numbers. Among them, starting from "all are irreversible," and up to "the teachings that praise the qualities of the treasury of all Bodhisattvas, which are perfectly complete, are proclaimed continuously for countless eons, and the teachings of praise of qualities are inexhaustible," this demonstrates the greatness of qualities. Here, the distinctions of the qualities of Bodhisattvas are expressed in five ways: obtaining direct prophecy, being close to Buddhahood, miraculous powers of mind, miraculous powers of body, and miraculous powers of speech. Among these, the term "irreversible" indicates obtaining direct prophecy. Thus, having obtained tolerance of the unborn dharma on the eighth bhumi, the irreversible Bodhisattvas are directly prophesied by the Buddhas to become Buddhas. The explanation of this is: "All are said to abide in the state of having fully attained the sphere of wisdom of all Bodhisattvas." The wisdom of all Bodhisattvas is focused on suchness. Its sphere is the unborn nature of all phenomena that are completely conceptualized, and what is attained through the antidote to all discriminations is the ultimate attainment. What is that? It is the abiding in the characteristic of tolerance of the unborn dharma. Thus, those who abide in the state of the eighth bhumi are called as such. By obtaining prophecy on the irreversible bhumi, it shows the attainment of direct prophecy. The term "bound by one lifetime" indicates being close to Buddhahood. They are bound by only one lifetime to become Buddhas in the future. The explanation of this is: "It is said to be the sphere of activity that continuously engages in realizing the realm of wisdom of all Tathagatas."

The realm of wisdom of all Tathagatas is the suchness that is completely separated from the obscurations of affliction and knowledge, and that itself is Buddhahood. Realizing that is understanding, and that itself is entering. To not interrupt that is the sphere of activity of unobstructed power, and those who are powerful are called that. There are three kinds of entering: entering with faith on the ground of conduct with faith, entering with the realization of suchness on the ten grounds such as the Joyful, and entering with the realization of Buddhahood. In that case, in order to avoid confusion with the first two kinds of entering, realization is mentioned. There are five kinds of magical manifestations of mind: being skilled in maturing sentient beings, being skilled in accomplishing aspirations, being skilled in benefiting all beings like a wish-fulfilling jewel, being skilled in not dwelling in samsara or nirvana, and being skilled in manifesting samadhi and so on. Among these, in terms of being skilled in maturing sentient beings, it is said in the sutra that making all beings completely mature and skillfully and truly showing all the activities of the blessing of cutting off at the time of taming is called skillfulness, that is, in order to make the roots of virtue of all beings completely mature, and in order to tame those who have matured. As the time is ripe, by what means is it made completely mature, and what is the time for taming? The blessing of cutting off, whatever activities have the power of fruition, truly showing all of that is skillfulness. In terms of being skilled in accomplishing aspirations, it is said in the sutra that the aspirations of all Bodhisattvas, in terms of kalpas, times, realms, and conduct, abiding in an uninterrupted manner is called skillfulness. The aspirations of all Bodhisattvas are those that appear from here onwards, and accomplishing them is to make them accomplished. This uninterruptedness is like the kalpas such as the Good Kalpa and the constellations, and the times of the future life stream, and the Buddha-fields where the Tathagatas appear and truly show, and the continuation in conduct.
