It is not so. If form is self-arisen, then form does not arise from the elements. If not from self-arising, is it from other-arising? Because there is no other, it is not from other-arising either. There is no nature of four in one, and no nature of one in four. How can form be established with the four great elements as its cause? Because it is extremely difficult to grasp, it does not exist. If it is said to be from characteristics, but the characteristics also do not exist. Because it arises from cause and condition, it is reasonable that there are no characteristics. If consciousness can grasp form, then it will grasp its own nature. Because it arises from conditions, it does not exist, how can it grasp the true form? As said before, the consciousness arising from form cannot grasp moment by moment. How can it know the past and future forms? At any time, there is no difference between color and shape, so it cannot grasp their differences. Form is also not manifested as a whole. Eye consciousness is not in the eye, nor in the form, but based on form and eye, it produces inverted distinctions. If the eye itself can see the eye, then how can it see form? Therefore, neither eye nor form has self-nature. The remaining sense bases are also the same. The eye itself is empty, and it is also empty by otherness. Form is also empty in the same way, and the remaining sense bases are also the same. When one touch occurs simultaneously, everything else is empty. Neither emptiness nor non-emptiness exists, and non-emptiness does not depend on anything. Because self-nature does not abide, the aggregation of the three does not exist. Because it itself has no touch, there is no feeling at that time. Relying on the internal and external sense bases, discriminative consciousness arises. Therefore, consciousness is empty like a mirage and illusion. Consciousness arises depending on the knowable, but the knowable does not exist. Because there is no knowable and knowing, the knower itself does not exist. Everything is impermanent, or rather, impermanence is not permanent either. If things are permanent and impermanent, how can it be so? Suffering and happiness are inverted. Attachment, hatred, and ignorance arise from conditions. Because attachment, hatred, and ignorance arise from conditions, they are not self-existent. Because attachment arises for the same thing, hatred arises for the same thing, and ignorance arises for the same thing.

Sa. Therefore, it is produced by conceptual thought. That conceptual thought is also not truly real. That which should be examined does not exist. If that which should be examined does not exist, how can conceptual thought exist? Therefore, that which should be examined and conceptual thought, since they arise from conditions, are emptiness itself. By realizing that, one reverses perversion. The ignorance that arises from the four perversions does not exist. If that does not exist, then the formations do not arise, and the remainder are likewise. Whatever thing arises in dependence on something, if that does not exist, then that does not arise. Existence and non-existence, conditioned and unconditioned, this is nirvana. Those things that arise from causes and conditions, whatever thought considers them to be truly real, that is what the Teacher called ignorance. From that, the twelve branches arise. Having realized that things are empty, since one sees truly, one does not become deluded. That is the cessation of ignorance. From that, the twelve branches also cease. Formations are like a city of gandharvas, like illusion, mirage, hair-net, like bubbles, foam, apparitions, like dreams, and a wheel of firebrands. Since all things are empty of inherent existence, therefore the Tathagata is incomparable. This dependent arising is thus closely shown in all things. The ultimate meaning ends there. All the various worldly discarded terms, the Complete Perfect Buddha, the Bhagavan, contemplates in dependence on that. He teaches the worldly dharma without destroying it, but in reality, he never relies on dharma. What the Tathagata taught, from ignorance, from that, fear arises from this stainless speech. This exists, therefore that arises, like this, the worldly way is not prevented, but whatever is depended upon is empty of inherent existence, how can that exist? That should be understood. The faithful one should strive in the dharma. This way, whatever is inferred by reason, the dharma that is without dependence is contradictory. Having abandoned existence and non-existence, which are permanent, one finds peace. From these causes, it is inferred that, by that, all the nets of wrong views are reversed. Therefore, having abandoned attachment, delusion, and anger, one attains undefiled nirvana. The concise meaning of the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness," composed by the teacher, the noble Nagarjuna, is complete. Written well in meaning and words from the translations of the translator, Zhonnu Chok, and Sönam Dargye and Khu. "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness," by the noble Nagarjuna.
