Also illusion. Illusion itself is also birth. Blessed One, old age and death are not other than illusion, nor are they other. Old age and death themselves are illusion. Illusion itself is also old age and death. This is said to be the fourth thought of that itself, which is a conceptual thought based on the imputation of dependent arising. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Are even the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment other than illusion? He replied: Blessed One, it is not so. This is said to be the fifth thought of that itself, which is a conceptual thought based on the imputation of complete purification. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Are emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness also other than illusion? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness are not other, nor is illusion other. This is said to be the sixth thought of that itself, which is a conceptual thought based on the imputation of the path of seeing. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Are dhyana and the formless attainments also other, or is illusion other? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, it is not so. This is said to be the seventh thought of that itself, which is a conceptual thought based on the imputation of the path of meditation. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Is all emptiness also other, or is illusion other? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, it is not so. This is said to be the eighth thought of that itself, which is a conceptual thought based on the imputation of the path of distinction. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think?
