The wisdom of a great Bodhisattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, even if meditating for only one day, cannot be approached even by one percent of other wisdoms. Not even by one thousandth, one hundred thousandth, in number, in part, in calculation, in cause, or in simile.

Neither in cause nor in simile can it be approached. Shariputra, if the world-realm in the upward direction were filled with monks like Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, for example, like a reed forest, or a sugarcane forest, or a sugar tree forest, or a bamboo forest, or a rice field, or a sesame field, whatever wisdom they possess, it cannot approach even one percent of the wisdom of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom for one day. Not even one thousandth, not even one hundred thousandth, not even in number, not even in part, not even in calculation, not even in cause, not even in simile can it be approached. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the wisdom of a Stream-enterer, a Once-returner, a Non-returner, and an Arhat, and also the wisdom of a Pratyekabuddha, and the wisdom of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, and the wisdom of a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, all those wisdoms are without distinction, solitary, unborn, without essence, emptiness. Blessed One, without distinction, solitary, unborn, without essence, emptiness, there is no difference or distinction. Blessed One, how can the wisdom of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom, meditating on a single umbrella, overwhelm the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? After he said that, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, what do you think? The wisdom of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom, meditating for one day, practices the All-Knowingness that possesses all the supreme aspects, and I will do the benefit of all sentient beings, and all dharmas will be manifestly and completely awakened in all ways, and all sentient beings will be completely liberated from suffering, for the sake of which fruit's meaning he abides, for that meaning, Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.

Are the wisdoms of all the Shravakas close? Shariputra reported: World Honored One, it is not like that. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, what do you think? Do all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas think like this: After we have realized the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, we will cause all sentient beings to completely pass into the realm of Nirvana without remainder? Shariputra reported: World Honored One, it is not like that. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, therefore you should also understand in this way, the wisdom of all these Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas is not even close to one hundredth of the wisdom of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who cultivates for one day. Not even one thousandth, one hundred thousandth, in number, in part, in calculation, in reason, in metaphor, it is not close. Shariputra, what do you think? Do all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas think like this: We practice the six perfections, ripen sentient beings, purify the Buddha-field, perfect the ten powers of the Tathagata, perfect the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, perfect the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, and after realizing the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, we will cause immeasurable, countless, and boundless sentient beings to completely pass into Nirvana?
