Explanation of Generating Bodhicitta. Explanation of Generating Bodhicitta. Having desire is like the earth. Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to fully awaken to all dharmas in all aspects, should strive in the Prajnaparamita. This is a concise teaching on generating the mind of bodhicitta, which is endowed with the desire for perfect and complete enlightenment. After this was said, the Venerable Shariputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to fully awaken to all dharmas in all aspects, strive in the Prajnaparamita? After this was said, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should abide in the Prajnaparamita in a way that does not abide. Because there is no perceiving of giving, bestowing, or receiving, one should perfect the Paramita of Giving in a way that there is no giving away. Because there is no falling or not falling, one should perfect the Paramita of Discipline. Because there is no disturbance, one should perfect the Paramita of Patience. Because the diligence of body and mind does not diminish, one should perfect the Paramita of Diligence. Because there is no tasting of flavors, one should perfect the Paramita of Meditation. Because there is no perceiving of wisdom and the scattering of wisdom, one should perfect the Paramita of Wisdom. This is an extensive teaching on generating the mind of bodhicitta, which is endowed with perfect and complete enlightenment. Shariputra, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, in each of the ten directions, wishes to lead all beings in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River to nirvana in the realm of nirvana without remainder. One should also train in the Prajnaparamita. This is a brief explanation of generating bodhicitta with the aim of benefiting others.
