Explanation of the characteristics. Explanation of the characteristics. Because after showing the combinations, it is necessary to state their characteristics, therefore: What symbolizes and becomes a characteristic? What is to be known is also knowledge, difference, and three types. Whatever is the nature of what is symbolized, it is said. Thus, it should be understood that it transforms into four characteristics. Among them, the characteristics of knowledge, all are based on knowledge, and temporarily transform into sixteen types. What are they? The arising of the Tathagata, the indestructible nature of the world, the conduct of sentient beings' minds, their collection and review, the appearance of the unpleasant, attachment and so on, vastness, becoming great and immeasurable, and the invisible consciousness, the invisible mind and that knowledge, the knowable such as movement, and in addition to that, those are, the various knowledge of suchness, the Thus-gone One's realization of suchness, and the teaching of others, all of these are, in the context of all-knowing, the collection of the characteristics of knowledge. This is what is taught. Among them, the knowledge of the arising of the Tathagata is that which is the master of the complete enlightenment of all aspects, starting from the statement of the characteristics of knowledge, up to the powers and so on, this is what is taught. In order to generate the ultimate of all-knowingness, the dharmas that lead to Buddhahood, the Prajnaparamita is the mother of the Tathagatas, this is what is taught. Knowing that the world is indestructible means that emptiness and so on are indestructible. Because of the meaning of not being extremely destroyed, the aggregates and so on are indestructible. Because of the nature of the dharmas such as not being extremely destroyed, it is definitely shown, so it is the showing of the world, this is what is taught. What is knowing the conduct of the minds of all sentient beings? Knowing the conduct of all sentient beings depends on the Prajnaparamita, so it is also the cause of the imputation of sentient beings, from the aggregates and so on to all-knowingness, with the nature of no object of focus, it is the showing of the world. Why is that? For the time being

The Perfection of Wisdom itself is also without an object of focus. Furthermore, what is it like? How could there be an object of focus even up to the state of Omniscience? This is explained by starting from "How does it become an object of focus?", and that is what is being shown. The terms "mind concentrated" and "mind distracted" mean that this Dharma nature does not focus on that Dharma nature. Therefore, it is shown that one knows exactly as it is the concentrated and distracted minds of all sentient beings. Knowing the unbearable aspect of the mind means that through those (minds) themselves, one thoroughly knows the unbearable aspect of being free from desire, cessation, and abandonment, and that is what is being shown. Knowing the mind with attachment means that whatever mind has attachment is not the mind as it truly is. Why is that? Subhuti, the mind as it truly is has no object of focus. Since the Dharmas arising from the mind are also without an object of focus, what need is there to mention knowing the mind with attachment, etc., as it truly is? That is what is being shown. Knowing the vast mind means that since the essence of the mind is without an object of focus, the vast mind that makes the mind vast is also thoroughly known as it truly is, and that is what is being shown. Knowing the mind that has become great means that similarly, the mind that has become great is also thoroughly known as it truly is, and that is what is being shown. Knowing the immeasurable mind means that the cause of the mind is without support, and the immeasurable mind is immeasurable because there is no support for those minds to abide in, and so forth, as before, and that is what is being shown. The term "knowing the invisible mind" means that because the mind's own characteristic is emptiness, it is called the mind without characteristics, and so forth, as before, and that is what is being shown. Knowing the unseeable mind means that it does not appear to the five eyes of the Tathagata, as shown before. Knowing the wavering mind, etc., means that the mind arises and occurs dependent on the five aggregates of flowing, gathering, etc., as before, and that is what is being shown. Furthermore, the statement "I and the world are permanent" begins with "truth, while the other is ignorance."
