This is from the Vimala Ushnisha Dharani and the Tantras, concerning the rituals of building stupas and tsatsas, etc. Having heard it from Acharya Dharma Kirti, Vajra Kirti, Vajra Bodhi, etc., it was taught by those teachers and finally established. First, the ground for building the stupa: In a house or surrounded by a fence, or wherever is available, to conveniently create a mandala, examine the land. Dig one cubit deep in the center of the mandala, and if pus appears, it is good. If bones and gravel, etc., appear, then remove them all, and in the center of the excavated land, place gold, silver, copper, or brass, etc., whatever is available, into a double-layered container, filled with jewels, grains, five medicines, and incense. Seal it and fill it with good soil. On top of that, make a well-made mandala of two fathoms square, with a height of one cubit. On each side of the mandala, make two small mandalas of one cubit square, making their tops level and connecting them to the large mandala. On top of the mandala, spread whatever is available, such as felt or cloth, with a length of two and a half to four cubits, and a width of one fathom or more, with edges reaching up to eight. Erect four victory banners in the four directions. In the center of the felt, make a square of dar, cloth, or paper, one arrow-length long and one cubit wide. In the four directions, draw four stupas of mindfulness, each with seven wheels. Then, directly from the center of its vase, write the Vimala Ushnisha Dharani mantra with saffron.
