The Method of Meditating on the Three Deities of the Hundred-Syllable Vajrasattva, by Naropa. The Method of Meditating on the Three Deities of the Hundred-Syllable Vajrasattva. Naropa. In Indian language: Śata Akṣara Bhaṭṭāraka Sya Satvaṃ Traya Dhāvana. In Tibetan: The Method of Meditating on the Three Deities of the Hundred-Syllable Vajrasattva. Homage to the noble gurus! The path of the Buddhas of the three times, possessing the nature of the three virtues, I prostrate to body, speech, and mind. Being dull and endowed, striving in practice, separated from the guru's instructions, for the sake of benefiting others, I compose this mixed practice of three methods. Om Shri Vajra Heruka Samaya. Manu Palaya. Heruka Tvenopatiṣṭha Dṛḍho Me Bhava. Sutoṣyo Me Bhava. Anurakto Me Bhava. Supoṣyo Me Bhava. Sarva Siddhiṃ Me Prayaccha. Sarva Karma Su Ca Me. Cittaṃ Śreyaḥ Kuru Hūṃ Ha Ha Ha Ha Hoḥ Bhagavan. Vajra Mā Me Muñca. Heruka Vajrī Bhava Mahāsamaya Sattva Āḥ Hūṃ Phaṭ! Among these, the mantra for meditation is: In the center of one's own heart, in a subtle tent, In the center of the syllable Hūṃ, the size of a thumb, The syllable Ṭaṃ, like white light, Think of it as residing on the crown of the head. The rays of light arising from Hūṃ, In the heart of the samadhi-being, In the center of the union in the sky, Meditate on a mandala of light. From the union of Oṃ and Hūṃ, Meditate on the forms of lotus and vajra. The syllable Oṃ is like the color of smoke, Know it to be the samaya-being. In the close union of these two, Meditate on A as the wisdom-being. The nature of clear light is emptiness itself, The essence of the bindu is without letters. Neither two nor not two, it is peaceful itself, Like the sky, it is without stain. Meditate on this in the throat. Both radiate into one light. Smoke, sparks in a flame, Like empty appearances and mirages. The rays of five colors, Are the nature of the rainbow itself. Vairochana Vajra, sun and lotus, Free Vajra, Vajra Victory. Vajrasattva, the sixth Heruka, Gathered in the throat, they abide. Thus, in all the unsurpassed tantras, With the three approaching beings, The oral instructions for practice, Having explained in order, Now, according to the Yoga Tantra, I will explain the oral instructions for practice. The yogi who has received empowerment in the Yoga Tantra, The wise one,

Having obtained it, sit comfortably on the seat, and regarding the essential points of the three syllables Om Ah Hum, begin thus: First, assume the vajra full lotus posture, gaze at the tip of the nose in the posture of the king of meditation, recite Om Ah Hum, and contemplate in the three places. Then, the rays of light of their respective colors, like iron hooks, with the rays invite all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to the space in front, offer with five or seven, take refuge in the Three Jewels, etc. Then, in the cloudless sky, like the stars that abide, the hundred-syllable mantra is: Om Shri Vajra, etc. Then, recite the following mantra: Om Svabhava Shuddhah, Sarva Dharma Svabhava, Shuddho 'Ham, after reciting, contemplate as clear as a star. Om Citta Pratibhe, when Dham and Karo are not recited, in that space, from the syllable Hum arises, contemplate various lotuses. Then, with the syllable Om, contemplate the moon mandala in the sky. On it, recite the syllable Ah, oneself as bright as a star, contemplate on the moon. Then recite Om Bodhi Citta, Da Utpadayami, oneself as the syllable Ah, generate the Bodhicitta. Its nature is luminous, it is the mind of Bodhi, pervading all beings, contemplate as the nature of luminosity. Then the third syllable, recite the syllable Hum, at the Brahma aperture on the crown of the head, contemplate the syllable Hum, from which arises the vajra, contemplate as a five-pronged vajra, recite this stabilizing mantra: Om Tishta Vajra Hum. When it melts, Vajrasattva, contemplate oneself as this lineage, one face and two arms, body color white, two hands holding vajra and bell. Among them, Shri means auspiciousness, that is Vajrasattva. Thus, with the syllable Om, it indicates the Samaya being. Or understand it thus: Om is giving the moon, from the syllable Hum arises the five-pronged vajra, on the central tip of it, from the first vowel arises, Vajrasattva body color white, face and hands etc. as before. This is the syllable Om, the Samaya mind. First is virtuous auspiciousness. Now is the meditation mind.
