The Ritual of Fire Offering The Ritual of Fire Offering If, due to forgetfulness or inability, the ritual is missed, it should be immediately supplemented with a fire offering. There are many different ways to perform it, such as pacifying and increasing. Due to the fear of extensive texts, all activities are written briefly. With mantras and mudras, the ground should be purified first. Extend the right hand and strike with a vajra. oṃ hana hana vajra krodha hūṃ phaṭ (藏文:ཨོཾ་ཧ་ན་ཧ་ན་བཛྲ་ཀྲོ་དྷ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ hana hana vajra krodha hūṃ phaṭ,汉语字面意思:Om, strike, strike, vajra, wrathful, hum, phat). This is the mudra and mantra for purifying the ground. The fire pit should be round, one cubit in size, with a twelve-finger base carved into it. From the top of the fire pit, four fingers inward, the size should be that of a blooming lotus. Directly outside, there should be a four-finger-wide platform, with three-pronged vajras marking all directions and corners. On the fire pit, apply a white circle of cow dung, which is born from the seed syllable of one's own deity. In the center, draw a multi-colored eight-petaled lotus, on which draw a vajra one finger high and eight fingers wide, along with a wheel, jewel, lotus, and sword. Outside the lotus, create a vajra garland, with the practitioner facing east. om kuśa, this is excellent and auspicious, born from a pure stem, the purity of Brahma, pleasing to the Three Jewels, the essence born from the earth, pacify the calamity of so-and-so. hūṃ, with this praise, cut the kuśa grass to the ear of the finger, bend the tip forward, and purify the fire pit in a clockwise direction. Then, place a bundle of twelve-finger-long dry grass in the center of the fire pit. After that, place the offering wood and insect-free firewood slightly lower than the fire pit, light the wood and sugarcane lamp, recite oṃ jvala jvala hūṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ་ཛྭ་ལ་ཛྭ་ལ་ཧཱུཾ་,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ jvala jvala hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Om, burn, burn, hum), and place it in the center of the fire pit. oṃ vajrānale hāhā bhūta jvala sā sarva pāpa bhismaṃ kuru sarva duṣṭāṃ hūṃ phaṭ (藏文:ཨོཾ་བཛྲཱ་ན་ལས་ཧཱ་བྷཱུ་ཏ་ཛྭ་ལ་སཱ་སརྦ་པཱ་པ་བྷིསྨཾ་ཀུ་རུ་སརྦ་དུཥྚཱཾ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ vajrānale hāhā bhūta jvala sā sarva pāpa bhismaṃ kuru sarva duṣṭāṃ hūṃ phaṭ,汉语字面意思:Om, vajra fire, haha, become, burn, sa, all, sins, burn, do, all, evil ones, hum, phat). Whoever holds the vajra, sword, jewel, and lotus, embracing the wisdom of self-luminosity, is the one with the precious diadem and the moon vajra. From the syllable (Tibetan: རཾ, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Rang) arises a stout and white form, with such three faces. Accompanied by the wisdom of self-luminosity, with six hands holding the gesture of fearlessness, a rosary, a staff, and a pill. Seated in vajra posture upon various lotuses and the sun, with the diadem of matted hair firmly bound. Om Tsul Chyon Ts'ur Chyon Jungpo Ch'e. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) Lhayi Drangsong Nyikye Ch'ok. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) Sregluk Shyalze Shye Ne Ni. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) Drini Yangdak Nyenpar Dzö. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) With this, the summoning and drawing in, etc., by Yama, Lord of Death, and others, precede, and on the hearth, on a cushion of kusha grass, one makes offerings. Then, from the water of the vase of all activities, with the tip of kusha grass, one performs cleansing and sprinkling as before, and except for washing the feet and washing the face, one offers offerings, etc., and then offers fresh milk without powder. Om Shrim Shrim Svaha. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) With this, for the (Tibetan: ཡཾ, Devanagari: यं, Romanized Sanskrit: yaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Yang) wood, etc., one joins the two hands in prayer and extends the two middle fingers. Om Ah Saha. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) is the mudra and mantra for purifying all. Om Svaha. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) is the mantra for purifying butter. Then, visualizing a white vajra the size of a pea on the tongue, one recites Om Agnaye Svaha. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning), and slightly opening the mouth, offers it into it. One performs the fire offering with a ladle, reciting Om Agnaye Adipya Rcchishye Maha Shriye Ha Byaka Byavaha Naya Muka Saparivararasya Shintam Kuru Pumshtam Kuru Raksham Kuru Svaha. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning). Then, joining the measuring vessel and the ladle together, on the fire one visualizes the seed syllable of one's own deity, and on the fire god also one visualizes the syllable (Tibetan: རཾ, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Rang), and then placing the hands between the two knees, one performs the great fire offering. Then, one should examine the signs of the fire, whether there are obstacles or not: white like Indra's bow, like coral, a single tip is supreme, two tips become middling, in short, the practitioner should know that three tips are the lowest. Having thus known that there are obstacles, one cleanses and truly protects with the mantra of swirling nectar, and then offers the three measures. Thus it is said. Sengdeng, Plaksha, Palasha. Udumbara, Nyagrodha. Arka, Amra, Baika.
