Chapter Two: Elucidating the Seven Limbs of Practice. Chapter Two: Elucidating the Seven Limbs of Practice. Now, as the seven limbs are to be explained individually, it is stated, "Complete Enjoyment," and so on. The Complete Enjoyment Body is the naturally formed form body adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of a great being. By mentioning the Complete Enjoyment Body, the Dharma Body and the Emanation Body are also included, as the three bodies are without difference. The Dharma Body is of two types: from the four close placements of mindfulness, etc., to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, etc., and the nature of suchness. The Emanation Body is also of two types: the Complete Enjoyment Body itself, appearing in various forms such as Brahma and Ishvara according to the capacity of those to be tamed, and the manifestation of various forms such as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas emanating from the Complete Enjoyment Body, which is the nature of the Emanation Body. Thus, the first limb having been explained, the second, "Union," and so on, is then stated. The word "Union" refers to entering into samadhi with a goddess equal to oneself. If one were to merely grasp the Complete Enjoyment Body born from union, it would be the same as the Complete Enjoyment Body spoken of in the way of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, "Union" is mentioned in order to truly enjoy it. In the Perfection of Wisdom, it is said: Through the union of the two faculties, all things are contemplated. For the ungrasping, it is for the sake of the glorious Guhyasamaja. For the glorious Guhyasamaja, is union not also necessary? Is it that merely by the nature of bliss pervading the entire body, all the benefit of sentient beings is accomplished? It is not so, because beings of the desire realm are particularly attached, and in order to guide these behaviors, the Bhagavan demonstrated the samadhi of union, also for the sake of achieving Buddhahood by extensively enjoying the pure great bliss of desire through the union of the two faculties. Even if there is union, it is illusory.

Great bliss does not arise from the union of a male and female emanation from the Mother Tantra. Because of this, it is called great bliss, and the third branch is mentioned. Among these, experiencing bodily pleasure is called bliss, and experiencing pleasure arising from the mind is called mental bliss. All sentient beings, including ants, greatly desire that bliss. "Great" means very vast, without leakage, very rich, and existing as long as samsara exists, etc. Because it possesses these distinctions, it is called great bliss. The nature of Mahamudra, even Buddhahood, must be accomplished through no-self-nature, so the fourth branch is mentioned. No-self-nature means that which has no self-nature, and that which abandons self-nature is itself no-self-nature. It is empty of self-nature, such as one and many, and is false, like a city of gandharvas and a moon in water. As the Bhagavan said in the Prajnaparamita and other sutras, "Even the Buddha is like a dream, like an illusion." Why? Because nirvana is no different from illusion. Nirvana is also like an illusion, like a dream. Even if there is another dharma that is more excellent than nirvana, it is like a dream, like an illusion." So it is said. What is this no-self-nature? If it is said that even the Buddha, as mentioned before, must be accomplished through no-self-nature, then emptiness itself, which possesses all kinds of excellence, is no-self-nature. That itself is suchness, the ultimate reality, the selflessness of phenomena, the profoundness of phenomena, the equality of phenomena, the certainty of phenomena, the reality of phenomena, the nature of phenomena, the ultimate truth, unsurpassable bodhi, and non-dual wisdom, etc., which can be expressed by those names. Among these, what is the emptiness that possesses all kinds of excellence mentioned here? The answer is, as the Bhagavan said in the Ratnakuta Sutra and other Mahayana sutras: Generosity

It is not separate from the perfection of generosity, not separate from the perfection of discipline, not separate from the interval of the perfection of wisdom, not separate from the interval of the enjoyment body, and not separate from the interval of all the Buddha's teachings such as mindfulness. This is called the emptiness that possesses all aspects of excellence. The definitive word is that everything is it, and the forms belonging to the three realms, such as vases, woolen cloths, and chariots, are also all forms. Among them, whatever is particularly superior, such as the nature of the enjoyment body and the perfections of giving, is supreme, and that which possesses and is rich in it is the emptiness that abides by itself, which is the emptiness that possesses all aspects of excellence. It is not the emptiness of sky flowers or rabbit horns, because it is the nature of non-existence, so the Blessed One cannot directly realize it and refutes it. However, if one clings to the emptiness that possesses all aspects of excellence as being the same as suchness and essence, then at that time, that will also become a cause for going to hell due to inferior views. As the Blessed One said: Emptiness is said by those who arise from all views. Whoever has a view of emptiness, that is incurable. If one has a wrong view of emptiness, a person with little wisdom will be ruined, like holding a snake improperly or practicing a mantra incorrectly. Thus it is said. If the well-known world thinks that emptiness is without distinction, then things like Buddhas will not become emptiness. If it becomes a thing, if it is different, then things like Buddhas will not become emptiness, because the meaning of emptiness, which is different from things, with the nature of having self-nature, cannot make all non-empty things empty. Thus it is said: In that, it is neither truly true nor truly untrue.
