All vows, that is, completely abandoning offerings to oneself and others, should begin and make offerings to the Vajra Master Lama. Because making offerings to others only leads to obtaining good destinies, but pleasing the Lama leads to obtaining omniscient wisdom, which is stabilized by the five stages, and relying on the sequence of generating the precious essence of that very nature, one will attain the most supreme result. The difference between the heavens and liberation is very great, this is just a saying as it is. The fruit of offering is: The supreme teacher, by offering to Vajrasattva, what merit has not been done by him? What hardship has not been relied upon? It is said. The supreme one, that is, the Vajra Master Lama, who is mainly wisdom and compassion, is the same as Vajrasattva. Whoever makes offerings to him, that practitioner has done merit, what good deeds have not been accumulated? And meditating on the abode of Brahma and so on, what is there that has not relied on the hardships of the characteristics? That's all. In the root tantra it is also said: We are the father of all Buddhas. We are the mother of all Buddhas. Thus, it is said in the three times, and after making offerings, they passed away. Therefore, there is no difference between Vajrasattva and Vajra Master, this is just as it is. The difference of that offering itself is: That is the inexhaustible desire, whatever is extremely cherished, whatever is extremely special, all of those are offered to the Lama. It is said.

One obtains excellent merit. It is a hundred million times greater than being free from desire. Whoever gives to one who does not need to learn, therefore obtains extremely excellent enjoyment. Whatever person makes offerings to the Buddha, their abundant enjoyment will never be exhausted. So it is said. The characteristics of a scholar are: A scholar steals away sins, a scholar dispels fear, a scholar saves from the suffering of the ocean of fear to the other shore. It is said that the scholar steals away sins through the empowerment of knowledge, because one becomes fully aware. The secret empowerment dispels fear, because it abandons the fear of conceptualization. Through the empowerment of wisdom and knowledge, one is saved from the great fear of the ocean of suffering, that is, from the nature of samsara, which is the obscuration of afflictions and knowledge, and is made to go to the other shore, that is, to the ultimate. Examining whether a disciple is a vessel or not: Whoever is stained by pride, and shows the order of what is not true, and despises the Dharma, do not show that to him. It is said that if a disciple who has pride shows the true reality as it is, what fault is there? However, showing the order of what is not true, that is, the order of reality that is not true, and likewise despising the Dharma, that is, the words of the guru's instructions, and the disciple who has wrong views, do not show or explain the ultimate reality to him, which is the literal meaning. The characteristics of a noble disciple are: Respect the guru, speak the truth, be completely peaceful and single-minded, protect the vows and conduct, and now the order will be explained. It is said that one should respect the guru of the speaker, and likewise speak the truth because one is free from deceit, and likewise one should not be attached to external things such as enjoying close objects, therefore one should be completely peaceful and subdue the senses, and likewise because one has the wisdom that arises from definitely knowing the Dharma, therefore one should remember all the meanings and words of all that can be measured that are spoken together, be single-minded, and the treatises.
