Explanation of the Ultimate Truth. Explanation of the Ultimate Truth. There are two types of ultimate truth: outer realization of enlightenment and inner realization of enlightenment. The outer realization of enlightenment has four aspects: From the juncture of dawn until sunrise, all separation of body, speech, and mind is the nature of emptiness. When the sun rises and is present, the spreading appearance is utterly empty. From sunset until moonrise, it is the great emptiness of ignorance. From moonrise until the juncture of dawn, it is the nature of emptiness of attained appearance. The inner realization of enlightenment has two aspects: common and uncommon. The common aspect is that in the center of the heart chakra of all sentient beings, there is an indestructible bindu, the Tathagatagarbha, naturally present, luminous, immovable, becoming the cause of all dharmas, naturally established and abiding. As stated in the Sutra of the Tathagatagarbha: "The body of the Tathagata, endowed with wisdom, endowed with generosity, abides unmoving within the bodies of all sentient beings, just as it is." Also, in the Lankavatara Sutra, it is said: "The Tathagatagarbha is naturally luminous, pure, having the nature of purity from the beginning, endowed with the thirty-two marks and eighty minor marks of excellence, and exists within the bodies of all sentient beings." In the Golden Light Sutra, it is said: "The Tathagatagarbha is completely pure in all aspects. For example, the nature of gold is inherently pure, the nature of water is inherently pure, and the nature of space is inherently pure, not non-existent. Similarly, the inherent purity of all dharmas is not non-existent." The uncommon aspect is the oral instruction of all Buddhas, not the realm of the Great Vehicle, but the great secret among secrets. Therefore, the fifth and sixth branches are mixed together and taught. As it is said in the Great Yoga Tantra, requested by the four goddesses: "The innermost essence of the heart, abiding in the master of all, the profound secret of all Buddhas, I shall explain to you, goddess."
