First, abiding in asceticism, in places such as charnel grounds, abiding alone in solitude, having purified the entire body, one should recite this mantra: Om Mahaakala Purva Indra Bandha. Dakshina Yama Bandha. Paschima Varuna Bandha. Bera Adhipati Bandha. Ishana Bhuta Adhipati Bandha. Agni Paishvarana. Nairritya Rakshasa Bandha. Vayabe Vayu Devata. Urdhve Sita Maho Bandha. Thus, possessing great compassion, in the fearful forest of samsara, saving those beings who are frightened or tormented by suffering, generating the mind of enlightenment.

Thinking about the nature of suffering, generate great compassion. With a mind of great joy, may all be endowed with a mind of great bliss. May it be equal and pervasive to all. Then, contemplate having obtained the form of the accomplished glorious Great Black One. Completely abandon the eight worldly dharmas and abide in a state of great equanimity. In this way, thoroughly abide in the four Brahma-viharas. Within that, one should view one's own body as the nature of all activities. Om Svabhava Shuddhah Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham. Auspicious Lord, with two arms, one face, utterly full, three eyes, adorned with a garland of heads, hair reddish-yellow standing on end, abiding on a corpse seat, fangs bared, causing fear even to the hosts of terrors, adorned with the eight nagas, with the form of a dwarf, endowed with splendor, sealed with Akshobhya, holding a curved knife in the right hand, holding a skull cup in the left hand, and a khatvanga in the armpit, drinking blood with a fiercely wrathful, devouring face, tongue darting and twisting, fangs bared, one should view oneself as such. Mix poison, blood, garlic, and white mustard seeds together, and fumigate with burning incense. Also fumigate clay images and thangkas, etc. Rice cooked with beans, tsampa and flowers, incense and unguents, the five meats and the five amritas, with these offerings, give a torma to the Great Black One. When these are complete, recite the mantra: Om Mahakalaya Hum Hum Phat Phat Svaha.
