Explanation of the Meaning of Chapter Nine Explanation of the Meaning of Chapter Nine ༄། །Those who practice the Dharma of the path, if they do not possess the complete branches of the ritual, they will not be accomplished, like a king riding a poor horse. Mantras without complete branches and actions without complete dependent origination are like the situation of the Brahmin woman, Good Possession. Therefore, the fruits to be accomplished depend on complete causes and complete conditions. Even well-made vehicles cannot reach their destination without relying on horses. By the power of truth, even false actions can be accomplished, like the wedding feast of a magician couple. Therefore, possessing the twenty-seven mudras can be applied to all actions, and all their functions become accompanying. As the root tantra says: Whatever actions are to be accomplished, which are initiated by habitual actions, if the causes, conditions, and dependent origination are not complete, and are accomplished by unfavorable factors, like the image of a dead peacock, even if practiced for hundreds of kalpas, it will not be accomplished. The means to ripen and liberate, the branches of means, conduct, etc., by the power of the aggregation of causes, conditions, etc., the desired fruit of action is accomplished. In whatever mandala of mudras, if it is not accomplished by the assembly of mudras, then the excellent fruit will not arise, therefore one should engage with completeness. Thus it is said. Therefore, for the practice of any impure path, it must be done with the twenty-seven mudras. Also, as the seventh chapter says: Those filled with approach and accomplishment, etc., the clear sequence of mudras, become the path to be accomplished, those clear ones are combined with the actions of the fruit. The twenty-seven branches of aggregation are highly renowned as the actions of mudras, the entering branches of the various distinct actions are said to be assistants. The situation of those progressing upwards has already been described above. If summarized, it should be known that there are four types of mudras, namely the first, sixth, seventh, and eighth are the great mudra. The second, third, fourth, sixteenth, and nineteenth are the samaya mudra. The ninth and tenth
