This means: "Part" refers to the ninth vowel, and abiding correctly there means abiding in the form of ḷ. What is that? The eye, that is, the vein of the eye. "If the water is cut off" means that there are no tears and it becomes dry. "Looking upwards" means that when the vein of the eye is severed, one will look upwards. "Part ten" refers to the letter ḷ. "Left ear and cheek" refers to the vein of the ear vein below the left ear named Godavari, on the outside of the cheek. When it is severed, one will not live for more than one day. "Part eleven" refers to the letter ai. "Relying on the right ear" refers to the vein of the ear vein below the right ear, on the side of the cheek.
