, below, it is answered with "the sixteen aspects of that nature," so it is not elaborated here. Therefore, requesting to attain enlightenment is the necessary point. The phrase "afflictions disturb the mind" means that afflictions are six, five, or three. Disturbing the mind is due to the power of their habitual tendencies. "Not knowing" means not knowing that one abides in the essence of the four bodies of the original Buddha. Being submerged in the mud is not knowing that. Sentient beings are those who dwell in samsara. How, in samsara, are dharma and enjoyment, as well as emanation and wisdom body, obscured by habitual stains and adventitious stains, and awakened during sleep, dreams, and wakefulness, as well as the fourth state? In order to ripen them, obtaining the unsurpassed fruit is the necessity of benefiting others. "Eliminating all afflictions and abandoning all ignorance" is a phrase to be combined. All afflictions are six, such as the root afflictions. All ignorance is not knowing the suchness and the extent of suchness. Eliminating and increasing is the path. Therefore, one should explain the differences in intention to sentient beings as they are. "One should explain to sentient beings" means requesting the common three vehicles in order, and especially the profound stages of the secret mantra path. Thus, after showing the necessity, one should explain to whom one is requesting, that is, "the Bhagavan, the perfectly complete Buddha," the fruit of which has been explained above. "The guru of beings, the teacher" means sentient beings abiding in the six realms of samsara. The guru is the Buddha who teaches the Dharma. "Knowing the great samaya of that nature" means that after first generating bodhicitta, obtaining the dharmakaya for one's own benefit, and accomplishing activities with the form body for the benefit of others, is the samaya. The samaya is knowing that nature. Alternatively, it is knowing the intention of those to be tamed. With the supreme wisdom of knowing the faculties and intentions, please explain. Here, the faculties and intentions are that the Dharma should be taught in accordance with the superior, intermediate, and inferior faculties. Thus, after showing the object of the request, one should explain the Dharma that is requested, that is, "the wisdom body of the Bhagavan, the great crown of speech, the wisdom body that is self-born, of Manjushri, the wisdom being." The Bhagavan is the Buddha of the three times. His body is the wisdom body. Because he teaches that, he is the Buddha.

Like the crest jewel on the head, is the Bhagavan. Please have this spoken by the lord of all words. What is it? It is the wisdom body. It is not made of atoms, but by the appearance of self-awareness. Is self-awareness desired as a meaning? No. It is beyond the nature of all-knowing, the Prajnaparamita, co-emergent, naturally luminous, the supreme unchanging primordial wisdom Buddha, Mahamudra, these are synonyms. Self-born means without cause, not born from means. Not born from otherness. Therefore, it is the self-born body inseparable from means and wisdom. Therefore, it is said in the root tantra: Yoga is not in the manner of means, nor is it only wisdom. The yoga of the union of means and wisdom༄། །is spoken by the Tathagata. Thus it is. Manjushri, the wisdom being. It is said that its nature is that. Name is the best of true speech, meaning is profound, meaning is vast, meaning is great, incomparable, utterly peaceful. This is the wisdom body of name. The best of true speech is the way the body appears, speaking of appearances as different outside and inside. Profound meaning is unchanging wisdom. Vast meaning is the three vehicles. Great incomparable meaning is the path and fruit of mantra. Utterly peaceful means that those vehicles and the fruit of mantra are pacified into uncontaminated wisdom. Good in the beginning, middle, and end. This means it should be understood as cause, path, and fruit. Spoken by the Buddhas of the past, those of the future will also speak, and the perfect Buddha who appears now, what is it that is repeatedly spoken? It is said that the primordial Buddha was spoken by the beginningless Buddha in the beginningless time. Those of the future will also speak, and now also by the Tathagata. In the great tantra, the net of illusion, the great Vajradhara, the holder of mantras, according to the teachings of the immeasurable ones, what is the song that is sung, please explain. It is said that the three nets of illusion are extensively taught to the first holy one, who speaks? By Vajradhara. What is spoken? Because the mantra is very difficult to fathom. The one Vajradhara

It is according to the teachings of the immeasurable ones. Singing does not refer to the singing of words, but to the song itself. Because one wishes to understand what has not been understood, one requests the explanation of this later tantra. Thus, having shown what Dharma was requested, the promised explanation will be given: In order for me to become the secret holder of all the protectors, the complete and perfect Buddhas, until the definite arising (from samsara), I will firmly hold my mind with steadfast intention. Here, "protector" refers to sentient beings. Because he is the Buddha. Spoken by him, the compiler is Vajrapani himself. In order that the minds of all sentient beings may not degenerate from bodhicitta until they have definitely arisen from samsara. The secret lord Vajrapani, having thus requested the Tathagata, folded his palms, bowed his body, and sat before him. This is the conclusion, easy to understand. Thus, the explanation of the first chapter is complete. Chapter One: Explanation by Request.
