Chapter One: The Teaching of the Extensive Commentary on the Sixteen Verses of Inquiry. Chapter One: The Teaching of the Extensive Commentary on the Sixteen Verses of Inquiry. ༄། །In Sanskrit: Ārya Mañjuśrī Nāma Saṃgīti Amṛta Bindu Prati Āloka Bṛtti Nāma. In Tibetan: The Commentary on the "Holy Names of Mañjuśrī," called "The Drop of Ambrosia, Illuminating Lamp." Homage to youthful Mañjuśrī! The place and the one with the place, like space, with suchness, The sun and moon enter the path of darkness, swayed by arrows. Born from the edge of the earth, pervaded by water, I prostrate to the Sugata Mañjughoṣa. This, like a drop of nectar, transmitted from the guru's mouth, The first Buddha, well-come, The mantra of name recitation will be written. The glorious Drepung Stupa (Drepung Monastery), And those seeking the meaning of various tantras, Worldly and transcendent, Gathered on the fifteenth of Saga. At that time, the Teacher, for all beings, The Dharma realm, the Lord of Speech, The mandala unfolded is Drepung (Drepung Monastery). In its outer and inner pure places, The glorious constellation great mandala, The first Buddha unfolded the mandala, To all the gods and so on, Empowering and blessing the four tantras, The heart essence tantra and the five, Vajradhara extensively taught. The essence of the heart essence is this, Condensed, the hosts of ḍākinīs, Sealed in their respective places. The essence of the heart essence, this one, For the benefit of beings in Jambudvīpa, A hundred million times recited and accomplished, Very famous is the meaning of this. Profound and difficult to fathom, No one knows, Candrakīrti (Moon of Goodness) spoke without impurity. That meaning, for those with lineage, I will explain well. Here, the fourteen spoken of, Thirteen with meaningful sound realms, One is praised by all. That itself is why it is not held here. The thirteen to be explained are, Inquiry and speaking and seeing, ༄། །The net of illusion and the vajra realm, The Dharma realm mirror, each realized, Equality, activity accomplished, tantra condensed, Mantra and rejoicing, The thirteen places of the vajra holder. Among them, the first, initially, The sixteen inquiries will be shown. Reasonable.

The teacher is the Dharmakaya, originating from the letter "Ta" of Jalandhara, And the letter "A" of Shupotri Shakuni, from which all phenomena arise. The so-called "E-Vam-Maya" is Vajrayogini, Residing in the "Bhaga." Thus it is said: Thereafter, the glorious Vajradhara, The most excellent of those who tame the untamable, The hero who triumphs over the three realms, The master of secret empowerment, the Vajra Lord. The so-called "A" aspect is selflessness, Not abiding in Samsara, the teacher is like this, Free from all forms. The "Ta" aspect is unmoving, In the midst of impartial great compassion, Various things appear. The union of the two non-dualities of Vajra, Possessing the essence of emptiness and compassion, Without the leakage of the three outflows. The holder is the union of two, Holding together is called holding. Thus it also comes from the Kalachakra, Having abandoned all thoughts, Focusing single-mindedly on emptiness, Even if meditating for only one day, If faith is still not born, Then my words are false. Thus, the vow is declared. The three signs, beginning, middle, and end, The first sign, obtaining the five siddhis such as "Du," The second sign, emptiness and hundreds of hundreds cease, The final sign, twenty-one thousand six hundred cease, attaining perfect enlightenment. Glory, beyond that, is for one's own benefit and the benefit of others, The arising of the two excellences, Or possessing the union of the two non-dualities, Pills, vases, shoes, Earth-walking, sky-walking, swift feet, Yakshini and the extraction of essence, Like this, immeasurable excellence. The untamable, the army of four limbs, Especially the great gathering of views, Twenty-one thousand six hundred, And thousands and eight hundred, three hundred, Sixty armies, all are untamable. Why? Because of harming day and night. The tamers, although there are countless such as six, Yet all have failed to tame, Only the great wisdom that does not leak, Is the most excellent of all actions. From where is it obtained? Vase, Tummo, co-emergent wisdom, Binding the body with the six yogas. Thus it also comes from the Kalachakra, Through the union of action and binding, The three grounds will also be accomplished. Thus it is said. The three gates of the three realms, The Victorious One's own body of bliss and emptiness increases, In the cause of anger, severing the connection, Secrets, are the five secrets, Thus it also comes from the Vajrayana, You should protect.
