The Ritual of Fire Offering The Ritual of Fire Offering "Except for the mandala fire offering, nothing has been taught here." As it is said, for the benefit of the disciples, the ritual of the desired fire offering shall be spoken. Among them, on a white base, dig a circular hearth one cubit in diameter and twelve fingers deep. In the center, on an eight-petaled lotus six fingers wide and three fingers high, place a variegated vajra resting on a skull cup. Inscribe the names of the goddesses on the petals and surround it with a vajra garland. Outside the hearth, leave four fingers' width and surround it with vajras of equal width and height. At the four corners of the platform, mark them with triple vajras. Smear all around with earth appropriate to the activity, and also smear with incense appropriate to the activity. Scatter white flowers three times; this is the hearth for pacification. For increase, on a yellow base, make a square of two cubits, dig it to half that depth, and make the opening twice as large as before; the rest is as before. Then, smear with yellow earth and yellow incense, and scatter yellow flowers. For subjugation, on a red base, dig a triangular hearth twenty fingers wide and ten fingers deep, and surround it with an opening of three fingers. The rest is as previously shown. Then, smear with red earth and red incense, and scatter red flowers three times. Attraction and destruction are also the same. The difference here shall be stated: make the ground dark and not essential, with cracks and hot spots. Smear with black earth and ashes from the charnel ground, and with as much donkey and mule dung as possible, and with unpleasant incense, and scatter odorless black flowers, red flowers, and chaff. There, in the east of the mandala or temple, make the hearths for pacification and subjugation. In the south is for increase. In the north is for accomplishment. In the west is for attraction. Alternatively, it seems that one can also make a hearth appropriate to the activity with colored powders. This is the ritual of the hearth. Now, the ladle and pouring ladle will be shown. They can be made of gold or copper, or of sacrificial wood. At the end of the handle, there is a six-finger stone.

The scepter should be made of precious jewels. The scepter is sixteen fingers long. The top of the scepter is a four-finger vajra. Its width is four fingers, its depth is two fingers, and the center is marked with a five-pronged vajra. At the top is a small bird-beak-like object that drips essence, this is the measuring device. The pouring device is shaped like a lotus petal, two fingers wide and one finger deep, with a five-pronged vajra in the center. The rest is the same as before. The handles of both should be easy to hold with a vajra fist. Thus, it is shown that they are each one cubit long. If there is no measuring device and pouring device, the fire offering of measuring and pouring should be done with a hand with five fingers. The other hand should be held in a three-finger shape. In addition, there are also fresh firewood made from the top parts of mango trees, banyan trees, katamba trees, palasha trees, bodhi trees, palasha trees, nyagrodha trees, bitangka trees, sami trees, kasamarga trees, and apamarga trees, about a span high, with leaves. Smear ghee, honey, and butter on both ends, and burn the top of the firewood with two leaves, sprinkled with white perfume, holding it with the thumb and forefinger. Firewood that is rotten, cracked, broken, without bark, bent, double-headed, short, long, eaten by animals, or with animals should be avoided. In addition, barley and rice, yogurt and milk, sesame and fresh kusha grass, durva grass, mango leaves, sandalwood and rice, white flowers and butter, etc., whatever can be obtained, are burned as peaceful fire offering offerings.
