Eighth, Explanation of the Chapter on Vinaya. Eighth, Explanation of the Chapter on Vinaya. A yogi who possesses a collection of merit, and through the power of samadhi, a Bodhisattva becomes empowered. He will come in the form of a woman. That is called the Great Seal. Or, a Bodhisattva residing on the lower ground will be born as a woman due to the cause of the distinction of karma. That is called the Great Seal. For the sake of showing its characteristics. Or, neither long nor short. It is shown by such things. First, the vow of Upavasa is given. That is said to show only a small part of its characteristics. Abstaining from killing, taking what is not given, engaging in unchaste conduct, lying and false speech, and liquor mixed with grain and adulterated. Abandoning those is called the vow of a layman. Fragrant odors, garlands of flowers, perfumes, songs and dances, playing musical instruments, high seats and beds, large seats and beds, and untimely food. Those added to the previous ones become eight. Those eight are called the vows of Upavasa. Adding not touching gold and silver on top of that is called the ten precepts of a novice monk. In such a sequence, abandoning the non-virtuous deeds of body, speech, and mind, one should understand the meaning of what was just said. Its meaning is what the Tathagata said. How did he say it? Five, eight, and ten should be abandoned. Thus he said. By abandoning those, one becomes a layman, an Upavasa, and a novice monk, and so on. Its meaning is, after that, there are ten trainings. Thus it is shown. Then the Vaibhashika is explained. What is said, such as, is shown by the Bodhi of the Shravakas and the Bodhi of the Pratyekabuddhas. How to hear it should be shown. The aggregates of form and so on are called time. Why is it called time? Because it is the nature of the four, such as the past. That is called suffering. Why is it called suffering? Because it is the nature of suffering. Furthermore, there is emptiness and selflessness. Those words refer to the aggregates that have become fruits.

The five aggregates are called the Truth of Suffering. This is what is currently being experienced. Because of its cause, it is called the Truth of Origin. The cessation of these two is called the Truth of Cessation. This also has two aspects: cessation through analysis and cessation without analysis. Since it cannot be attained without the path, one should contemplate the Truth of the Path. Its names are also called Reason, also called Wheel, also called the Five Aggregates. This is called the Bodhi of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. These words show this meaning: the Hearers and others see that samsara is suffering, therefore they should abandon it, and they should make efforts to prevent future rebirths. The Four Noble Truths should be cultivated as valid cognitions. Among them, suffering should be understood, origin should be abandoned, cessation should be realized, and the path should be cultivated. Therefore, the nature of the five aggregates should be examined. How should it be examined? For example, like illness and the cause of illness, freedom from illness and medicine. Among them, suffering is like illness. Origin is like the cause of illness. Cessation is like freedom from illness. The path is like medicine. Thus, by examining the Four Noble Truths, eight knowledges and eight patiences will arise. These are called the Sixteen Moments. This is the manifestation of transcendent wisdom, called the Path of Seeing. Since one sees what has not been seen, it is called the Path of Seeing. Since cessation is directly realized, it is called the Path. Among them, what is called a moment is the Dharma-knowledge of suffering, the Patience of the Dharma-knowledge of suffering, the Subsequent-knowledge of suffering, the Patience of the Subsequent-knowledge of suffering, the Dharma-knowledge of origin, the Patience of the Dharma-knowledge of origin, the Subsequent-knowledge of origin, the Patience of the Subsequent-knowledge of origin, the Dharma-knowledge of cessation, the Patience of the Dharma-knowledge of cessation, the Subsequent-knowledge of cessation, the Patience of the Subsequent-knowledge of cessation, the Dharma-knowledge of the path, the Patience of the Dharma-knowledge of the path, the Subsequent-knowledge of the path,
