Third, the explanation of the opening chapter of all tantras. Third, the explanation of the opening chapter of all tantras. Being liberated from evil lineages and restrained from the grounds of Śrāvakas, etc., it is called restraint. Where does this restraint reside? Therefore, it is said that it completely resides in "E-vaṃ." The so-called "E-vaṃ" is the source of Dharma. The equality just mentioned is the nature of great bliss. Through this method, it can be understood. Joys arise from it. The saying "Joys arise from it" means that the joys previously mentioned will arise from it. By the distinctions of moments. The saying "By the distinctions of moments" refers to the various mothers, etc. These four should be combined with the four empowerments, namely, the Ācārya empowerment, the secret empowerment, the prajñā-jñāna empowerment, and the fourth empowerment. In order for the disciple to first request the Ācārya, this verse should be recited. O Bodhi-vajra Buddha, great, great, how is it given? Now, for the sake of protection, please grant me the Bodhi-vajra. Then, contemplate the empowerment by holding the vase with Buddha-eye, etc. After that, the verses should be recited. The verses are as follows: The empowerment is the great vajra, the three realms prostrate, given to all Buddhas, arising from the realm of the three secrets. After reciting the verses in this way, the water blessed with the mantra of nectar swirling, held in the hand holding the vajra, contemplate the disciple as a universal monarch, and then sprinkle it. Then, contemplate the headdress made of gold, etc., as the yidam deity, and as previously shown, place the headdress on the disciple's head. Contemplate all the Tathāgatas in the sky, and the image of the headdress enters the headdress. Thus, perform the headdress empowerment. Then, take the vajra. Today, I bestow the empowerment upon you, the Buddha bestows the vajra-holder empowerment. This is the vajra of all Buddhas, hold this vajra for accomplishment. Then, take the vajra, hold it at the disciple's head, neck, and heart, and then give it to the right hand. Then, wrap the left hand.

Should give the son. Should embrace with a disciple who possesses both of these. Then, the verse should be recited: Om Vajra Adhipati Tishtha Abhisincami Tishtha Samaya Vajra Tvam (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཨ་དྷི་པ་ཏི་ཏིཥྛ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩཱ་མི་ཏིཥྛ་ས་མ་ཡ་བཛྲ་སྟྭཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्र अधिपति तिष्ठ अभिषिञ्चामि तिष्ठ समय वज्र स्त्वं, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra adhipati tiṣṭha abhiṣiñcāmi tiṣṭha samaya vajra stvaṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Vajra, Lord, Abide, I consecrate, Abide, Vow, Vajra, You). Should say thus. After that, holding the vajra bell on the disciple's head, Om Vajra Sattva Tvam Abhisincami Vajra Nama Abhishekata (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་སཏྭ་སྟྭཾ། ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩཱ་མི་བཛྲ་ནཱ་མ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥེ་ཀ་ཏ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्र सत्त्व स्त्वं अभिषिञ्चामि वज्र नाम अभिषेकत, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra sattva stvaṃ abhiṣiñcāmi vajra nāma abhiṣekata, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Vajra, Sattva, You, I consecrate, Vajra, Name, Consecration). Hey, glorious so-and-so Vajra, indicate the empowerment of the name. Then, the vajra's vow, the bell's vow, and the great seal's vow. Should give these three vows. Then, should explain the suchness of the mandala. Then, should give the prophecy. Then, should give the vajra's ordination. Then, should give the relief. These are called the master's empowerments. After making the place a secluded place with curtains and so on, the disciple should offer to the master what pleases him, possessing compassion and so on, possessing the three samadhis, for the sake of the secret empowerment. After offering, should recite verses such as Bodhi Vajra. What does the lama do? Should urge the lotus of the nature of dharma, and then should place the mind in the vajra jewel. Should not walk on the path of the realm of space. Withdrawing from the lotus, binding between the thumb and forefinger, not making it an object of the disciple's sight, should move that lotus-like face into the space. Then the disciple should say this: Aho Sukham (Tibetan: ཨ་ཧོ་སུ་ཁཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अहो सुखं, Sanskrit Romanization: aho sukhaṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Ah, happiness), having said that, entice, should generate complete enjoyment. Then, having erected the nature of dharma, taking the essence of the flower residing in one's own body, should move it into the disciple's lotus-like mouth. That is also without clothes. This is called the secret empowerment. Whoever desires the nature of dharma that has become Buddha to be one, with that intention, should give the empowerment of wisdom and knowledge. With the intention of not wanting self-nature to be one, should give other emptiness. Then, in order to make manifest the wisdom of hearing and understanding, should urge the master with the urging verses indicated earlier. Then the master should extend his hand to the disciple's hand.
