One should generate the happiness that is whatever happiness there is. What is called "self" means to approach without depending on external mudras. That is meditation, and so on. In the meditation of luminosity that is spoken of, there is none of the three—the meditator, the object of meditation, and the meditation itself. How then should one meditate? "With what bliss does one die here?" and so on is said. Death is liberation. In that very state, when the mind and mental factors and the nature of ignorance have ceased, that is called death. What is called "with what bliss" is the nature of the great bliss in which all afflictions and secondary afflictions are exhausted. The fifth chapter of the Vajraharsa Difficult Explanation, the Precious Garland of Yoga, is the commentary on the chapter on Thatness.
