Fifth, Explanation of the Chapter on Suchness. Fifth, Explanation of the Chapter on Suchness. Having thus explained the yoga of the deities, since one cannot quickly attain enlightenment without devotion to suchness, the chapter called "Suchness" is then taught, which is so called because it clarifies suchness. Form, such as blue and yellow, etc., does not exist. If it is said, "Isn't it seen like a mirage? How can it not exist?" The answer is that it does not exist by its own nature. Because it is not artificial, it does not depend on others, and the inherent form, by its very nature, does not exist because it is interdependent arising. Whatever arises interdependently is the unborn nature of things. If the nature of things existed before arising, then it would not be necessary to rely on other causes to see the true self. If it depends on other causes, then things are not established by their own nature. As Nagarjuna said, "Because it does not depend on others, it is not artificial by nature." If things have no nature and therefore nature cannot be determined, how do these various appearances arise? The answer is that it only appears to children, and mere appearance does not establish its own nature. Hairs, double moons, peacock feathers, moths, etc., do they not appear to those with cataracts? If it is said that they appear by the power of cataracts, then others also have their eyes of wisdom impaired by the cataract of ignorance, so that even if all things do not exist by nature, they appear and are seen as if they were established in front of them, like the hairs seen by those with cataracts. But this is not the case for the noble ones whose eyes of wisdom have been cleansed of the cataract of ignorance. As it is said in the "Praise of the Blessed One by the Bodhisattva Who Removes All Obscurations": "Primordially peaceful, without birth, by nature, it is nirvana. When turning the wheel of Dharma, the Protector, you taught the dharmas."

Therefore, it is said that form and so on do not exist by their own nature. The so-called "invisible" and so on, refers to the fact that those dharmas such as the eye consciousness that sees form are also non-existent, because all dharmas are unborn. Similarly, sound and so on should also be applied in the same way. The so-called "no mind" and so on, refers to the mind being the completely established consciousness. What arises from the mind are other-powered and completely imputed, and these three are non-existent in the ultimate truth. If it is non-existent in this way, then the Blessed One also said, "O sons of the Victorious One, these three realms are only mind." How should that be explained? That is true, but it is to eliminate the clinging of those who are to be tamed who cling to appearances such as form. Nagarjuna also said, "The Buddha said that all is only mind, to eliminate the fear of children, that is not the true reality." Therefore, the mind is non-existent. This shows the true nature of all things. Now, in order to show the yoga of inner self-nature, the "birth mother" and so on are spoken. The birth mother refers to the one who shows benefit. The demon mother is the loving one. The dance mother is the one who acts clearly. The dharma mother is the one who delights in white deeds. The vajra mother is the one who delights in meditation. The outcaste mother is the one who abandons pride and has patience. The Brahmin mother is the one who delights in the supreme deeds. The so-called means and wisdom, the no-self mother is wisdom. Hevajra is the means. These should be offered in the manner of the forms that will be explained. The so-called "with wisdom" refers to with joy. The so-called "diligence" refers to striving for secrecy, that is, how not to be known. In order to explain that if it is known, there will be the fault of being visible and invisible, so it says "do not hide" and so on, which is the literal meaning. The so-called "birth mother" and so on, the birth mother refers to the one who abandons duality. The demoness refers to the solitary one. The so-called "and" refers to not collecting flavors, but offering them. Yoga is completely

Completed. The three roots of wisdom and skillful means, merely by obtaining these, great bliss will arise. Therefore, the yoga of that, practiced by a yogi who understands reason. The so-called "constant" means at all times, making offerings with the nature of great bliss. The so-called "Karma" and so on, the tongue and taste and their three consciousnesses are Karma. The first of touch and what is touched, and its consciousness is Tsoma. The ear faculty and sound and its consciousness are Dorjema. The nose and smell and its consciousness are Topama. The eye and form and its consciousness are Zarema. The so-called skillful means and wisdom, the emptiness of all dharmas is wisdom. Great compassion is skillful means. Their ritual is the samadhi of the nature of great bliss. Those who constantly offer with it, is the meaning of "constantly practice." If asked: Should yogis completely abandon sound, color, taste, etc.? The answer is: It has been said "it is the teaching itself." The so-called "diligence" means extreme diligence. The so-called "how it appears" means how not to be attached to the three of sound, etc. If attached to the three, what fault is there? The answer is: It has been said "do not hide," etc., Spula and others will be overwhelmed by the suffering of samsara. Spula is snakes and tigers, etc. Earth walkers are meat eaters, etc. If asked: How should the eye, etc. be expressed with the words of mudra? The answer is: Form, etc. are the five families. If still not understood, the answer is: Therefore it has been said "with this vajra." Vajra is indivisible wisdom, these are established. Establishment is establishment, with this one can generate great bliss, therefore with that cause, it should be called mudra. The so-called vajra lotus, etc., is to clarify the meaning of the teaching. The so-called family, etc., are vajra lotus, etc. The so-called "Tathagata has passed away" is to merge into the light. The so-called "virtuous" is the accumulation of merit and wisdom again.
