Ninth, Chapter on Purity. Ninth, Chapter on Purity. Attaining liberation by meditating on purity through the purity of the aggregates and so forth. The explanation that the manner of the two purities, generation stage and completion stage, has been shown in the previous chapter. Thereafter, the chapter on purity was also taught. Thereafter, in the words "also" and so forth, "purity" is the nature of the conventional and the ultimate. The ultimate purity is taught. In the words "all" and so forth, the word निश्चित (nges par, niścita, niścita, niścita) is a word of the ultimate. Therefore, things are also the aggregates and so forth, in the ultimate sense. What is purity? It is that which is expressed as suchness, that is, the complete nature of emptiness and so forth, up to "co-emergent." Whatever false nature of the appearance of those things is taught for the purpose of explaining conventional purity. From the words "from outside" and so forth, that is, of the gods. The distinction of each is the difference. The gods are related to saying that the aggregates and so forth are pure. "Purity" is becoming pure. That is, the aggregates and so forth completely abandon the ordinary appearance and are combined with the previous nature of appearance. In the ultimate sense, completely abandoning the non-appearing nature of grasping the ground of selflessness and so forth means that those who are attached to appearance are not the nature of being made to appear. In the conventional sense, not abandoning the ritual of offering offerings and so forth in the form of deities means having the ritual of offerings and so forth. The existence of the principle of purity in the ultimate sense is taught. In the words "six faculties" and so forth, "five aggregates and six faculties" refers to the five aggregates of appropriation. The so-called "six sense bases" refers to the six outer sense bases. The so-called "five great elements" refers to the five great elements such as earth. The so-called "purity by nature" means that those things are by nature or by their very nature. The so-called "purity" means abandoning the defilements of the grasped and so forth. If so, how do those things become pure?

Sung said: The so-called "knowable" and so on, the obscuration of the knowable is ignorance, meaning the self-nature of ignorance that is manifestly attached to what is taken, etc. Afflictions refer to being obscured by desire, hatred, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt. What arises from the senses, etc., is slightly obscured, and those stains are not of their own nature. What is to be purified means to make it into a naturally perfect self-nature. Because those are inherently free from stains, the inherent self-nature is hidden and covered, and the nature of what is taken, etc., the sudden ignorance is eliminated. Just as the sky is established from beginningless time and is inherently pure, but because of the obscuration and covering of darkness and smoke, etc., the state of suddenness is eliminated. Similarly, the state of elimination by the antidote, the sky itself is eliminated, therefore it is called stainless. Similarly, the unfavorable qualities such as ignorance are also eliminated by the antidote as selflessness, therefore the aggregates, etc., also eliminate the stains of what is taken, etc. In addition, it is also said, "The co-emergent nature of reality," which is "the noble self-nature of self-awareness." Let alone the purity in the conventional sense! What is the purity in the ultimate sense like? It is said, "By others," etc. By others means only the purity in the conventional sense. Liberation does not depend on the distinction in the ultimate sense. That is to say, in what is taken, etc., one will not be liberated by grasping, and grasping is also the cause of suffering, because what is to be accomplished is happiness. How are the aggregates, etc., and self-awareness itself related? It is said, "Showing proximity by the object," the aggregates, etc., are also what is taken. Therefore, the objects, etc., are the supreme bliss of self-awareness, because there is a connection, so it is a connection. What is it? It is said, "Things are pure," the joyful things, that is, those that are the nature of the inherently existing dharmadhatu, have become the objects, etc., that is, the nature of purity. Therefore, this thing is also the object, etc.
