Fifth, Explanation of the Chapter on Suchness. Fifth, Explanation of the Chapter on Suchness. Now, let's explain the chapter on the suchness of mantras and deities. Therefore, through this method, the suchness of all dharmas is explained. "Without form" refers to the source of form. "The seer" refers to the source of the eye and the nature of self, person, etc. To dispel the doubt of "How can it not exist?" it is said that by nature, form, etc., are without nature, which is the meaning of suchness. "Without touch" and "not touchable" refer to earth, etc., or the negation of the form aggregate or the ten sources. The four aggregates refer to the mind or the source of dharma, showing their lack of self-nature. "Without mind," etc., mind refers to the aggregate of consciousness or mind. What arises from the mind refers to the aggregates of feeling, perception, and volition, or the objects of the mind. "Again, without" means definitely without, negating the arising of these dharmas from the beginning, which is to negate the appearance as real. "Without reality" means that there is no definite reality in place and time. In all ways, in everything, for that which has no reality, there is no act of negation like that. Then, if so, how and where should the meditation on suchness be observed? Therefore, it is said, "Mother," etc. "Should be offered" means to generate joy, etc. "With the union of wisdom" means to understand with the union of method and wisdom, which are inseparable. "Constantly" means not letting the mind wander to other places even for a moment. Not only the mother, but also others should be offered, so it is said, "Dancer," etc. The brief explanation of the dancer, etc., will be personally explained by the Bhagavan himself in this chapter. To differentiate is to become two or to be understood. Then, what will this attachment to suchness do? Therefore, it is said, "Five mudras," by saying this, it refers to the five types of mudras. What will it become from that? Therefore, it is said, "Cause of liberation," in conventional truth, what is taught by the Tathagata is non-abiding nirvana.

The state of great bliss that arises from where is liberation, that is its cause. What are these mudras like? It is said that the vajra is merely a name. Or with the five Tathagatas, or with non-dual wisdom. Saying "with this" means sealing with a mudra, the cause is called a mudra. Or saying "with this" means sealing with the mudra of the characteristics of the five families, this is for examining its very nature. The mudra is the cause of the mudra of suchness itself. Then, is there nothing else other than the five families? It is said that the families are in five forms. "Supreme" means that these five families are supreme, they are the collection of all, so relying on these, other families and so on, is also the meaning. What are those families? It is said, the vajra mudra, named Dombi and so on. If it is said, whose are these families? It is said, of the Tathagatas, that is, of the Buddhas such as Vairochana. In short, it is a collection. What is the meaning of the Tathagatas? "Suchness" means that all dharmas are without self-nature, that is suchness. The yoga of the Tathagata abiding without abiding in that manner. "Glorious" means possessing the accumulation of merit and wisdom. Having gone to suchness with that accumulation of wisdom, and again coming back to samsara with the power of the accumulation of merit, is the meaning of non-abiding nirvana. In short, there are five forms. This means that Vajrasattva is included within the five Tathagatas. Furthermore, it can be summarized into three categories. If asked from where is it summarized? It is said, "By the distinction of body, speech, and mind." Although the nature of Vajrasattva is inseparable, there are three forms due to the distinction of body and so on. What are the three forms? It is said, "The five families are the five elements." It is the nature of the five aggregates, or earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Having explained the meaning of mudra before, now explaining the meaning of family. Family means number, which refers to joy and so on.
