Or when the country is in difficulty, and various fears are rampant, by remembering these names, one is liberated from all fears. One is liberated from untimely death. One obtains a good reputation. Being born as a human is meaningful. By the benefit of this one thing alone, whoever rises up first, whichever man proclaims it, he will have a long life. People will rejoice with wealth, and gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, and those with decaying bodies, beings, killers, rakshasas, and, mothers, those with harsh minds, yakshinis and pretas will act. Madmen and great demons, incubi and forgetful ones, and flesh-eaters and so on, and zombies and so on of various kinds, instigators, other minds, haters, even shadows will not be able to harm. How could they argue again? Hateful beings will be bound. One will not be afflicted by diseases and so on. One will possess wealth and enjoyments and qualities. Sons and grandsons will increase. The wise will remember their past lives. One will have lineage and be pleasing to see. One will have majesty and clear speech. One will understand all the scriptures. Virtuous friends will be properly served with reverence. Adorned with bodhicitta, wherever one is born, one will always not be abandoned by the Buddhas. Spoken by the glorious and holy Avalokiteshvara. The one hundred and eight names of the Holy Tara are complete. This is called the One Hundred and Eight Names of the Holy Tara.
