Headaches, eye diseases, itching, fever, eye ailments, and so on, should be closely practiced. For example, heavy rain, drought, and untimely rain take away the harvest of abundant crops. They take away the radiance of sentient beings. They take away life, strength, complexion, and form. At that time, all sentient beings in Jambudvipa are completely afflicted by various diseases. The fierce forms of lions, jackals, tigers, snakes, and so on, take away the radiance of sentient beings. Because untimely consumption is close to existence for the sentient beings of Jambudvipa, it is also difficult to liberate sentient beings from diseases. In this Jambudvipa, among the elderly, middle-aged, and young people, thirty million will die. Therefore, I, a monk, have come to you. You should proclaim this Dharma category to all sentient beings in Jambudvipa. Why is that? Because all sentient beings in Jambudvipa think, "How can we be liberated from all the bonds of suffering?" Therefore, monk, you should proclaim this sutra to all sentient beings, and strive to generate roots of virtue for all sentient beings. Always and constantly have faith in the Three Jewels. Do not forget the deities. Offer incense, flowers, and perfumes to the Tathagata's stupas or images. Also recite special dharanis. For seven days, abide in the uposatha with eight branches.
