Tri tri, du du du, tsi mi li, mi li, a ta, kva kva, kva ka si, du du, ti thi ti thi, ti mi li, mi ti, shi ti, mi ti li, va ti, pre tri pre tri ne, du hi ni, a ha ni, ha le, va he, tha tha vai tha be. This, O venerable one, is the knowledge-mantra of wandering, offered into the mandala of the dharani-mantra of Mekhala. Protection, complete protection, complete seizure, complete nurturing, peace and well-being, abandonment of faults, abandonment of weapons, destruction of poisons, repulsion of the unfriendly, demarcation at twelve yojanas, and complete nurturing. Whether it be a god, or a naga, or a yaksha, or a rakshasa, or a kumbhanda, or a flesh-eater, or a gandharva, or a preta, or a putrid corpse, or a body-putrid corpse, or an asura, or a garuda, or a human or non-human, or a great belly-crawler, or a desiccator, or a forgetter, or a madman, or a slayer, or a curse, or a zombie, or a one-day one, or a two-day one, or a three-day one, or a four-day one, may no harm be done by any human or non-human! Provocation, or harm, or looking for an opportunity, or seeking an opportunity and succeeding, such things do not exist, except for the ripening of past karma. From all fears, all humans, and all non-humans, may there always be well-being, svaha. Then, the Bhagavan spoke to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, you should hold the knowledge-mantra of Mekhala together with its retinue. Ananda, this knowledge-mantra of Makala binds clouds, suppresses wind, destroys, protects oneself, protects others, protects towns and cities, and demarcates boundaries. Whether it be a god, or a naga, or a yaksha, or a rakshasa, or a preta, or a kumbhanda, or a flesh-eater, or a body-putrid corpse, or a shramana, or a brahmin, or a practitioner, or a wanderer, or a naked one, or a ascetic, or a skull-bearer, or a blue body, whether human or non-human, it is not to be transgressed. Ananda, this knowledge-mantra of Mekhala destroys all slayers, curses, and zombies. It repels all demons. It destroys all inauspiciousness. Ananda, this knowledge-mantra of Mekhala is made by a shramana.
