In order to dispel (obstacles), these very pleasing verses were spoken: Whoever goes to the mountains or nomadic retreats, Even if encountering fierce beasts like tigers and wolves, And poisonous snakes, demons, and rakshasas, Upon hearing the recitation of this dharani, they will be unable to harm. Whoever enters rivers or the ocean, Even if encountering vicious nagas, cruel crocodiles, And yakshas, rakshasas, fish, and turtles, Upon hearing this dharani, they will scatter separately. Whoever is surrounded by enemies on the battlefield, Or when encountering robbers and evil-doers plundering wealth, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, They will generate loving-kindness and retreat. Whoever is caught in the king's lawsuit, Or when bound by iron chains and imprisoned in jail, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The king will release them with compassion. Whoever enters a cursed or poisoned house, Or when being killed by poisonous food and drink, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The poison will turn into nectar, and the food and drink will become delicious. When a pregnant woman is giving birth, If disturbed by demonic obstacles, suffering unbearable pain, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The ghosts will scatter, and she will give birth peacefully. If fierce naga demons exhale poisonous breath, Threatened by feverish diseases and nearing death, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The epidemic diseases will be dispelled, and life will be prolonged. If naga demons torment with intestinal diseases, causing swelling, Or when suffering from unbearable sores, oozing pus and blood, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, Applying saliva three times will subside the swelling. If sentient beings engage in non-virtuous deeds due to afflictions, Or when harmed by curses, mantras, and enemies, If one-pointedly recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The curse and demons will recoil upon the one who cast them. In times of increasing sin, degenerate age, and decline of the sacred Dharma, When the fire of desire spreads, and the mind is confused and inverted, When husbands and wives each develop attachment to others, And day and night, perverse thoughts never cease, If one recites the dharani of Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, The fire of desire will be extinguished, and the inverted mind will be dispelled. Those who recite and fully uphold this dharani, if they enter a river or the ocean to bathe, then the sentient beings residing there, and those whose bodies are touched by the water used for bathing, all their sinful deeds and heavy misdeeds will be completely purified, and they will be born miraculously in lotuses in other pure lands, and will not take bodies born from wombs, moisture, or eggs. What need is there to mention reciting and holding it? Those who recite and fully uphold this dharani, when walking on the road, if a great wind arises and blows on that person's body, hair, and clothes, and the bodies of other sentient beings in the direction the wind blows are touched, then all their obscurations and heavy sinful deeds will be completely cleared away, and they will no longer experience the ripening of the three lower realms, and they will always be born before the Buddhas. Therefore, the benefits heard by those who recite and fully uphold this dharani are known to be inconceivable.
