The Noble Prophecy of Dipamkara Sutra, called the Great Vehicle Sutra. The Noble Prophecy of Dipamkara Sutra, called the Great Vehicle Sutra. In Indian language: Arya Dipamkara Vyakarana Nama Mahayana Sutra. In Tibetan: The Noble Prophecy of Dipamkara Sutra, called the Great Vehicle Sutra. I prostrate to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard: Once upon a time, the Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, in the Garden of Anathapindika, together with a great Sangha of monks, two thousand five hundred monks. At that time, the Blessed One was surrounded by hundreds of thousands of retinues, and he taught the Dharma facing them. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: "Ananda, therefore, you should purify your mind completely by examining the roots of virtue separately. What is the reason for that? Ananda, I have served hundreds of thousands of Buddhas with reverence, but the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, did not previously prophesy that I would attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. When I saw the Tathagata Dipamkara and offered five utpala flowers, I became devoted to the selflessness of the Dharma and obtained forbearance for the unborn Dharma. Ananda, therefore, you should not be content with the roots of virtue. What is the reason for that? Ananda, in the past, in the past countless eons, countless times, vast and immeasurable, inconceivable past, at that time, at that time, in this Jambudvipa, there was a king named Ajatashatru, who was handsome, beautiful, pleasing to the eye, had a good complexion, and was very prosperous. Ananda, that King Ajatashatru had eighty-four thousand cities, all of which were prosperous, pleasing to the eye, had perfect gardens, perfect ponds, perfect flowers, perfect fruits, were happy and prosperous, delightful, rich, flourishing, and full of people and populace. Ananda, that King Ajatashatru had a lotus

There was a place called Lotus, and King Ajatashatru resided there. Then, King Ajatashatru had a Brahmin attendant named Linden, who was very lovable and possessed all pleasing qualities. Ananda, then King Ajatashatru gathered all the people of the four castes, summoned the Brahmin Linden, placed a crown on him, gave him half the kingdom, and said this: Brahmin, go to your own land, build a royal palace, and name it Lotus. Ananda, then King Linden built a royal palace in his own land and named it Lotus. Ananda, at that time, in this Jambudvipa, there were two kings ruling: one was Ajatashatru, and the other was Linden. Ananda, then the noble queen of King Linden was lying comfortably on the top floor of the palace. Then, the Bodhisattva Dipankara passed away from the Tushita heaven and was reborn as a white elephant calf, radiating light, and entered his mother's right side. At that time, the noble queen said these words to King Linden. Ananda, then King Linden gathered the Brahmin diviners, astrologers, and sacrificers, and told them about the dream. The Brahmin diviners said: Great king, you have gained great benefit, your son will be a precious sentient being. Ananda, King Linden, hearing this dream omen, was delighted, satisfied, and joyful, extremely happy, and generated joy and pleasure. King Linden gave alms to all those belonging to his kingdom, like this: food to those who wanted food, drink to those who wanted drink, vehicles to those who wanted vehicles, and incense, garlands, property, oil, suitable dwellings, innocent things, and whatever they desired. Ananda, after ten months had passed, King Linden had a son who was handsome, beautiful, pleasing to behold, of excellent complexion, and supremely perfect.

He also said these words: 'Young man, go and sit and play among the retinue of the consorts! Be happy! Enjoy all kinds of pleasures!' Kashyapa, then after a while, the young prince Marmemdze went into the retinue of the consorts, rode on a great mount, and surrounded by a group of women, went to the place of the garden. The sons of the gods of the pure abodes, one of them showed us aging and decrepitude, and the affliction of disease and death, and also placed a renunciate there. The young prince Marmemdze saw it and said these words to the charioteer: 'Hey, charioteer, what are these various sights?' The charioteer said: 'Young man, these are called aging, sickness, and death. Young man, as long as the law of nature exists, there exist the laws of aging, sickness, and death, young man, you and I too.'
