Thereafter, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta asked, "O Blessed One, how should these four mindfulnesses be contemplated?" The Blessed One replied, "Mañjuśrī, in the future, monks will demonstrate the mindfulness of contemplating the body as the body in the form of the unattractive. They will demonstrate the mindfulness of contemplating feelings as feelings in the arising and ceasing of feelings. They will demonstrate the mindfulness of contemplating the mind as the mind, contemplating the arising and ceasing of phenomena in the mind, thus contemplating the mind as the mind. They will demonstrate the mindfulness of contemplating phenomena as phenomena in those things that cannot be fully understood, thus contemplating phenomena as phenomena, and these will occur." After speaking thus, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta again asked the Blessed One, "O Blessed One, how should these four mindfulnesses be contemplated?" The Blessed One replied, "Mañjuśrī, the Tathāgata's hidden words are difficult to understand, let them go!" Mañjuśrī asked, "O Blessed One, please explain the practice of mindfulness." The Blessed One replied, "Mañjuśrī, seeing the body as being like the sky, this is the mindfulness of contemplating the body as the body. Mañjuśrī, if no one thinks that feelings are neither inside nor outside, and does not cling to the absence of both, this is the mindfulness of contemplating feelings as feelings. Mañjuśrī, if someone knows that the mind is merely a name, this is the mindfulness of contemplating the mind as the mind. Mañjuśrī, if no one clings to virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral phenomena, this is the mindfulness of contemplating phenomena as phenomena. Mañjuśrī, the four mindfulnesses should be contemplated in this way." Mañjuśrī asked, "O Blessed One, how should the Noble Eightfold Path be contemplated?" The Blessed One replied, "Mañjuśrī, if someone sees that all phenomena are without inequality, without duality, and indivisible, this is right view. Mañjuśrī, if someone sees all phenomena without discrimination, without various discriminations, and without any discrimination, in a way that is invisible, this is right

What kind of conceptualization is that? Manjushri, whoever cultivates extreme equanimity, therefore seeing all dharmas as inexpressible, this is true speech. Manjushri, whoever does not fixate on the agent, therefore seeing all dharmas as without action and without agent, this is the true limit of action. Manjushri, whoever abides in equanimity, therefore neither increasing nor decreasing all dharmas, this is true livelihood. Manjushri, whoever, through the conduct of untainted discipline, does not universally seek all dharmas, this is true effort. Manjushri, because of being separate from the activity of mindfulness, whoever does not remember all dharmas, this is true mindfulness. Manjushri, whoever does not fixate on an object of focus, therefore seeing all dharmas as naturally equally abiding and unperturbed, this is true samadhi. Manjushri, the eightfold noble path should be viewed in this way. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should these five faculties be viewed? The World Honored One replied: Manjushri, whoever, because of the nature of non-arising, believes in seeing all dharmas as unborn, this is the faculty of faith. Manjushri, whoever, because of being separated from near attention and far attention, therefore does not apply the mind to all dharmas, this is the faculty of diligence. Manjushri, whoever, because of the solitude of objects, therefore does not pay attention to all dharmas and does not desire mindfulness, this is the faculty of mindfulness. Manjushri, whoever does not fixate on duality, therefore all dharmas become non-dual, this is the faculty of samadhi. Manjushri, whoever, because of being separated from birth and separated from ignorance, therefore sees all dharmas as naturally empty, this is the faculty of wisdom; Manjushri, these five faculties should be viewed in this way. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should the seven branches of enlightenment be viewed? The World Honored One replied: Manjushri, whoever, because of no mindfulness and no attention, therefore sees all dharmas as without substance, this is the branch of right mindfulness of enlightenment. Manjushri, whoever, because of not accomplishing virtue, non-virtue, and the unstated, therefore all dharmas are solitary.
