The Sutra of the Noble One: The Nature of Reality, Its Own Essence, Unwavering from Emptiness, Appearing Differently to All. The Sutra of the Noble One: The Nature of Reality, Its Own Essence, Unwavering from Emptiness, Appearing Differently to All. In Sanskrit: Ārya dharmatā svabhāva śūnyatā acala prati sarva āloka sūtra. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan dwelt in the Dharma Palace of the King of Deer, upon a great jeweled throne adorned with various jewels created from the excellence of wisdom, abiding in the state of the nature of reality, its own essence, unwavering as it is. At that time, countless great Bodhisattvas also gathered in that place. All the vast retinues of gods, humans, asuras, and so forth, also gathered. Then, all the assembled retinues circumambulated the Bhagavan again and again, prostrated, and sat down each in their own direction, making offerings with all the supreme offerings, honoring, respecting, and without tiring of making praises, began to listen to the Dharma, bowing their heads and sitting. At that time, although the Bhagavan did not contemplate the Dharmas of names and distinctions, through the blessings of aspiration and compassion, it appeared that he was proclaiming the Dharma to each of the retinues according to their individual inclinations and thoughts. The Bhagavan teaches the Dharma to me, but not to others, so they thought. Moreover, among those vast retinues, some thought that the Buddha was teaching the Dharma that exists as it appears, and they clung to and discriminated against it. Some thought that the Buddha was teaching that all Dharmas are only mind, and that there is no other Dharma besides that, and they clung to and discriminated against it. Some thought that the Buddha was teaching us that the nature of mind is also unborn, and they clung to and discriminated against it. Some thought that the Buddha was teaching that all Dharmas appear like illusions, but are not established like illusions, and they clung to and discriminated against it. Some thought that the Buddha was teaching that all Dharmas by their own nature

Unborn, without inherent existence, free from all ends of actions and activities, transcending discrimination and the objects of discrimination, teaching the Dharma that is completely pure of elaboration from beginningless time, thinking in this way, one grasps and discriminates about it. Then, the Bhagavan, abiding unmoving in the nature of reality, his own essence, just as it is, from that, having made a compassionate form, from the power of his tongue, he emanated rays of light called 'dispelling the darkness of discrimination,' which had become the diverse views of those assembled retinues. That light illuminated all ten directions, and in that retinue, the Bodhisattva Manjushri was present, and being urged, the Bodhisattva Manjushri knew in his mind that the five discriminations of most of the retinue were diverse. Thinking, 'Why is it that for the one basis of all dharmas, views and inclinations have become diverse?' He thought, 'I should request the Bhagavan.' And as he thought this, those rays of light re-assembled into the Bhagavan's tongue. Then, the Bodhisattva Manjushri said this to the Bhagavan: 'Bhagavan, although the Bhagavan does not discriminate about the dharmas of names and divisions, from what do these diverse inclinations and discriminations of these assembled retinues arise? Bhagavan, are all of these five limits of examining the Dharma correct? Or are some correct and some not correct? Bhagavan, are these five limits of examining the Dharma equal in attaining liberation? Bhagavan, are there types of individuals among these five limits of examining the Dharma? Bhagavan, what is the consistent example for these five limits of examining the Dharma that appear as diverse? Bhagavan, will individuals who discriminate separately like these five limits of examining the Dharma also arise in the future? Bhagavan, will the individuals who are learning not argue about what is meaningful and meaningless regarding these five limits of examining the Dharma? Bhagavan, please explain to me in order to cut through the net of doubt of these assembled retinues.' Having said this, the Bhagavan replied: 'Manjushri, you say this: The Bhagavan is'
