Chapter Twenty-Five: The Chapter on Entering into Individual Accurate Knowledge. Chapter Twenty-Five: The Chapter on Entering into Individual Accurate Knowledge. The Noble King of Samadhi Sutra, Volume Eight. Young man, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engage in individual accurate knowledge of dharmas, observing dharmas according to dharma, and thus correctly accomplish the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Young man, in this regard, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, observing dharmas according to dharma, does not see the actualization of perfect enlightenment apart from form. Nor does he engage in enlightenment apart from form. Nor does he seek enlightenment entirely apart from form. Nor does he correctly accomplish enlightenment apart from form. Nor does he correctly lead sentient beings to enlightenment apart from form. Nor does he see the Tathagata apart from form, but views the fearless essence of form as the Tathagata. One should not view form as other, nor the essence of form as other. Nor should one view the essence of form as other, nor the Tathagata as other. Whatever is the essence of form, and whatever is the Tathagata, is the nature of non-duality. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva who views in this way engages in individual accurate knowledge of dharmas. Likewise, not apart from feeling, not apart from perception, not apart from formations, one does not see enlightenment apart from consciousness. Nor does one engage in enlightenment apart from consciousness. Nor does one seek enlightenment entirely apart from consciousness. Nor does one correctly accomplish enlightenment apart from consciousness. Nor does one correctly lead sentient beings to enlightenment apart from consciousness. Nor does one see the Tathagata apart from consciousness, but views the fearless essence of consciousness as the Tathagata. One should not view consciousness as other, nor the essence of consciousness as other. Nor should one view the essence of consciousness as other, nor the Tathagata as other. Whatever is the essence of consciousness,

The Tathagata is the Dharmata of non-duality. If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva views it in this way, he practices in the correct understanding of each Dharma. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: By form, also is enlightenment shown; by enlightenment, also is form shown. By dissimilar sounds, the chief of Dharma is greatly shown. Sound is the chief of form; profound by its very nature. Form and enlightenment are equal; no difference can be found. Even profound Nirvana, as sound greatly shows, Nirvana cannot be found, nor can its sound be found. Sound and Nirvana, both cannot be found; likewise, in all empty Dharmas, Nirvana is greatly shown. In Nirvana and passing beyond, Nirvana cannot be found; this is where all Dharmas have no entry. As it is later, so it was before. All Dharmas, by their very nature, are equal and the same as Nirvana. Those who are diligent in the Buddha's teachings understand by making effort. Having seen the Buddha's body, one might say, 'I have seen the guide,' but no one can see me in this body of form. Whatever the characteristics of form, thus one knows the nature of form. If one knows the nature of form, then my body is surely shown. Likewise, I know the characteristics of the five skandhas. Having known the nature of Dharma, one dwells well in the Dharmakaya. Having dwelt well in the Dharmakaya, one teaches the Dharma to sentient beings. Without relying on the Dharmakaya, one teaches the Dharma to sentient beings. The Dharmas of the Buddhas cannot be expressed in words. Because they do not understand such principles, having heard the Buddha's voice, they say only these words: 'I have seen the guide.' For those who have abandoned all perceptions, there is no perception of existence. For those who grasp perceptions in sound, no one ever sees the one who shows. Who knows the emptiness of such a form? The nature of form is other, but emptiness is not said to be other. Whoever knows forms well, knows emptiness well. The characteristics of form are like this.
