Chapter Eight: The Chapter on Arising from Non-Substantiality. Chapter Eight: The Chapter on Arising from Non-Substantiality. Then, the Blessed One again said to the youth Moonbeam: Youth, therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who desires this samadhi and wishes to quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment should be skilled in the wisdom of the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas. Youth, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva become skilled in the wisdom of the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas? Youth, in this case, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should thoroughly understand that all dharmas are non-substantial, without self-nature, without characteristics, without intrinsic nature, unborn, unceasing, without letters, empty, peaceful from the beginning, and naturally pure. Youth, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thoroughly understands that all dharmas are non-substantial, without self-nature, without characteristics, without intrinsic nature, unborn, unceasing, without letters, empty, peaceful from the beginning, and naturally pure, then, youth, that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is rightly called skilled in the wisdom of the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas. Youth, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is skilled in the wisdom of the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas does not become attached to forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tactile objects, and all dharmas. He does not become hateful, and he does not become deluded. Why is that? Because he does not truly see these dharmas, and he does not fixate on these dharmas. He does not truly see or fixate on the dharma that is attached, to which attachment arises, by which attachment arises, that is hateful, to which hatred arises, by which hatred arises, that is deluded, to which delusion arises, and by which delusion arises. If he does not truly see these dharmas and does not fixate on them, then he will not be attached to all three realms, and he will quickly attain this samadhi. He will also quickly realize the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.
