Son of good family, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara has great miraculous power. Son of good family, any woman who desires a son, if she pays homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara, then a son will be born from that, with a good appearance, beautiful, pleasing to look at, possessing the marks of a boy, pleasing and lovely to many people, and will generate roots of virtue. If she desires a daughter, then a daughter will also be born, with a good appearance, beautiful, pleasing to look at, possessing the marks of a girl, pleasing and lovely to many people, and will generate roots of virtue. Son of good family, the power of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara is like that. Those who pay homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara, their actions will become fruitful. Son of good family, if someone pays homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara and holds his name, and someone pays homage to and holds the names of Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, as many as the sands of sixty-two Ganges rivers, and someone offers robes, alms, bedding, medicine for the sick, and necessities to those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, as many as the sands of sixty-two Ganges rivers, who are residing, living, and staying, son of good family, what do you think? How much merit will those sons or daughters of good family accumulate? After saying this, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Inexhaustible Wisdom said to the Blessed One: Son or daughter of good family
