Chapter Nineteen, The Chapter on Constant Attainment. Chapter Nineteen, The Chapter on Constant Attainment. Then, the Blessed One addressed the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahasthamaprapta, saying: Mahasthamaprapta, this category should also be understood as follows. If some individuals abandon such a category of Dharma, and slander monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen who uphold such a sutra, speaking unpleasant words, uttering harsh words that prevent them from entering the Sangha, then the ripening of their actions will be undesirable, which cannot be expressed in words. If someone upholds, recites, comprehends, and explains such a sutra, and extensively and truthfully reveals it to others, then the ripening of their actions will be desirable. As I said before, they will obtain complete purification of the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Mahasthamaprapta, in the past, in a time long ago, beyond countless, extremely countless, vast, immeasurable, and inconceivable kalpas, at that time, in those separate abiding kalpas, in a world called Great Manifestation, a Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, perfect in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, knower of the world, tamer of men, unsurpassed, teacher of gods and humans, Buddha, Bhagavan, named King of Fearless Sound, appeared in the world. Mahasthamaprapta, when that Blessed One, Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, King of Fearless Sound, appeared in the world of Great Manifestation, he taught the Dharma in front of the world, including gods, humans, and asuras. To the Shravakas, he taught the Dharma that leads to the ultimate peace of Nirvana, possessing the Four Noble Truths, and entering into dependent origination, in order to be extremely disgusted with birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, distress, and turmoil. Beginning with the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, possessing the six perfections, he teaches the ultimate Dharma of the Tathagata's wisdom. O Mighty Attainment, the lifespan of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, the King of Fearful Sound, is billions, trillions, hundreds of thousands, and millions of nayutas of Ganges River sands. Even after his complete passing into nirvana, the true Dharma will remain for billions, trillions, hundreds of thousands, and millions of Jambudvipa dust particles. The image of the true Dharma will remain for billions, trillions, hundreds of thousands, and millions of four-continent dust particles. O Mighty Attainment, in that world of great arising, after the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, the King of Fearful Sound, has completely passed into nirvana, and both the true Dharma and the image of the true Dharma have vanished, another Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, the King of Fearful Sound, will appear in the world. O Mighty Attainment, in that world of great arising, from one to another, twenty kotis of billions, trillions, hundreds of thousands, and millions of Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Enlightened Buddhas, the King of Fearful Sound, have appeared. O Mighty Attainment, in the kalpas that abide separately, in that world of great arising, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the Knower of the World, the Tamer of Men, the Unsurpassed, the Teacher of Gods and Humans, the King of Fearful Sound, the Blessed One who first appeared among all the Tathagatas, when his true Dharma has disappeared and the image of the true Dharma has also disappeared, his teachings are greatly suppressed by arrogant monks, and then a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, a monk named Ever-Despising, appears. O Mighty Attainment, why is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva

If that Bodhisattva is always called 'Never Despising,' then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahasthamaprapta, no matter who he sees among monks, nuns, laymen, or laywomen, he would go to them and say: 'I, virtuous ones, do not despise you, you are not to be despised.' Why? Because all of you will practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and you will become Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas.' After saying these words, Mahasthamaprapta! That Bodhisattva Mahasattva, after becoming a monk, no matter who he sees among sentient beings far away, he would go to them and loudly proclaim these words, never stopping, nor changing his words, going to those monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, saying: 'I, virtuous ones, do not despise you, you are not to be despised.' Why? Because all of you will practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and you will become Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas.' After saying these words. Mahasthamaprapta! At that time, no matter who that Bodhisattva Mahasattva proclaimed these words to, almost all of them would be angry with him, harbor malice, and generate distrust, reviling and slandering him, saying: 'Why does this monk, without being asked, say that we have no mind of despising?' Thus he proclaims to us, despising ourselves, saying that we can receive the prediction of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment without thinking or desiring. Mahasthamaprapta! That Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having been reviled and slandered in this way, spent many years, but he was not angry with anyone, nor did he generate malice. Even if someone threw rubble and sticks at him, he would loudly say from afar: 'I do not despise you!' Thus he would truthfully proclaim. He always constantly to those arrogant monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen
