The Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the profound meaning of definitive understanding, the proper way to ask questions, the noble Dharma, the extremely pure wisdom, the vast wisdom, the source of merit, the ultimate truth, the true noble one, the noble Avalokiteshvara, Maitreya, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Manjushri, and so on, and together with them. Then, the Bodhisattva, in the proper way of asking questions, starting from the inexpressible and non-dual nature of the ultimate truth, asked questions to the Bodhisattva, the profound meaning of definitive understanding: 'O son of the Victorious One, all dharmas are non-dual, all dharmas are non-dual, what are all dharmas? How are they non-dual?' Son of good family, all dharmas, all dharmas, refer to two things, namely, conditioned and unconditioned. Among them, the conditioned is not conditioned, nor is it unconditioned. The unconditioned is not unconditioned, nor is it conditioned.' Said: 'O son of the Victorious One, how is it that the conditioned is not conditioned, nor is it unconditioned? The unconditioned is not unconditioned, nor is it conditioned?' Son of good family, what is called conditioned is a term established by the teacher, and the term established by the teacher is a verbal expression arising from complete conceptualization, and the verbal expression arising from complete conceptualization is a verbal expression of various complete conceptualizations, and because it is not completely established, it is not conditioned. Son of good family, what is called unconditioned also belongs to the category of verbal expression, and whatever is said that does not belong to the conditioned and unconditioned is the same as it. It also becomes the same as it.' What is said is not without things, what is that thing? It is the inexpressible perfect enlightenment of the noble ones' noble wisdom and noble vision, and in order to realize the inexpressible nature of Dharma, it is named conditioned. Son of good family, what is called unconditioned is also a term established by the teacher.

Furthermore, whatever words are spoken by the Blessed One are those which arise from conceptual proliferation and are expressed in conventional terms. Whatever arises from conceptual proliferation and is expressed in conventional terms is expressed in terms of various conceptual proliferations. Since it is not at all established, it is not unconditioned. Son of good family, that which is called conditioned is also included within the category of conventional terms. Whatever is spoken that is not included in conditioned and unconditioned is also just like that. That also will be just like that. Expression is also not something without an object. What is that object? It is that which the noble ones awaken to, fully enlightened, without expression, through noble wisdom and noble vision. In order to fully realize that very nature of inexpressibility, it is named unconditioned. O son of the Victorious One, how do the noble ones awaken to that object, fully enlightened, without expression, through noble wisdom and noble vision, and in order to fully realize that very nature of inexpressibility, name it conditioned and unconditioned? Son of good family, for example, a magician or a skilled disciple of a magician sits at a crossroads on a great road and gathers together grass, leaves, wood, pebbles, or pieces of tile and displays various kinds of magical works such as hosts of elephants, hosts of horses, hosts of chariots, hosts of infantry, and hosts of jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, agate, and coral, and hosts of wealth, grain, treasuries, and granaries. Those sentient beings who are childish by nature, foolish by nature, and whose wisdom is corrupt, those who do not know those grasses, leaves, wood, pebbles, and pieces of tile, when they see or hear that, think to themselves, "Whatever appears as a host of elephants exists!" Whatever appears as hosts of horses, hosts of chariots, hosts of infantry, and hosts of jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, agate, and coral, and hosts of wealth, grain, treasuries, and granaries exists!

thinking, "It is so." Regarding what they see and hear, they tenaciously hold it as the best and are manifestly attached to it. Then they say, "This is true, and the others are false," and they also subsequently apply labels. These are what they need to examine closely later. Those beings who are not childish, not foolish, and who possess wisdom—if they know grass, leaves, trees, tiles, and fragments, when they see or hear these, they think, "The illusion of a multitude of elephants does not exist. The illusion of a multitude of cavalry, chariots, and small armies, and of jewels, pearls, vaiḍūrya, conches, agate, and coral does not exist. The illusion of a multitude of wealth, grain, storehouses, and granaries does not exist." However, for those who have the perception of a multitude of elephants, and the perception of the categories of a multitude of elephants, and the perception between wealth, grain, storehouses, and a multitude of granaries, and the perception of their categories, this created illusion exists. This that deceives the eye exists. Thinking, "It is so," regarding what they see and hear, they tenaciously hold it as the best and are manifestly attached to it, but they do not subsequently apply labels saying, "This is true, and the others are false." Rather, they apply labels in order to clearly distinguish the nature of things. These are what they do not need to examine closely later. Similarly, those beings who are childish ordinary people, who have not attained transcendent wisdom, and who do not manifestly understand the inexpressible nature of all phenomena—when they see or hear conditioned and unconditioned things, they think, "The appearance of conditioned and unconditioned things exists." Thinking, "It is so," regarding what they see and hear, they tenaciously hold it as the best and are manifestly attached to it. Then they say, "This is true, and the others are false," and they also subsequently apply labels. These are what they need to examine closely later. Those beings who are childish
