Why is that? World Honored One, the sphere of activity of the Shravakas is not the sphere of activity of the Bodhisattvas. Why is that? World Honored One, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are those whose sphere of activity is to be afraid of Samsara. The Bodhisattvas are those who completely hold immeasurable Samsara. World Honored One, therefore, Bodhisattvas should abide in their own sphere of activity. After the great king made this request, the Tathagata Peaceful Conduct spoke these words to the Bodhisattva Brave Strength: Noble son, you have spoken these words well, well done, well done. Bodhisattvas should be respectful of the activities of their own sphere of activity. They should act in their own sphere of activity, and should not act in the sphere of activity of others. Request: World Honored One, what is the Bodhisattvas' own sphere of activity? The Buddha said: Son of good family, the Bodhisattva's own sphere of activity is as follows: Not being afraid of completely holding immeasurable Samsara, and the benefits of the Bodhisattva's conduct, and not desiring the lands of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and also knowing that there is no self-combination, and also combining in the three realms, and eliminating and gathering, and increasing the roots of virtue, and being skilled in reasoning, and knowing how to gather, and being skilled in all virtues, etc., and also knowing exhaustion, and also being skilled in the inexhaustible accumulation of merit, and also thoroughly realizing non-arising, and also being skilled in deliberately taking birth, and also there being no sentient beings, and also being skilled in completely maturing sentient beings, and also knowing that all dharmas are solitary, and also being skilled in completely upholding the sacred Dharma, and also knowing that all Buddha-fields are of the nature of space, and also being skilled in completely purifying Buddha-fields, and also knowing that all Buddhas are the Dharmakaya, and also being skilled in completely seeking the adornment of marks and excellent signs, and also knowing that there is no manifest action, and also being skilled in not interrupting the continuity of manifest action of all roots of virtue, and also completely purifying conditioned dharmas, and also having few desires and being content.

Being skilled in all that needs to be done for all sentient beings, and also knowing to delight in the solitude of body and mind, not abandoning the teaching of the Dharma, and being skilled in both praise and blame in speech, also generating meditation, but not tasting the flavor of meditation, also knowing to realize the profound Dharma, and also following the various behaviors of sentient beings, and also being skilled in accurately teaching the true Dharma, also knowing the unborn, and also deliberately completely holding existence, also knowing insight, but also being skilled in not striving to obtain the fruit, and also being the realm of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, but also being skilled in not cutting off the cause of desiring the liberation of the Thus-Gone One, and also knowing not to abandon the conduct of Bodhisattvas, and also being skilled in viewing the realm of the Buddha. Son of good family, this is the own realm of activity of the Bodhisattvas. Great King, in this way, that Bodhisattva Great Strength, having heard this teaching of the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, on the complete purification of the realm of activity from the practice of perfect peace, was amazed. And he said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, this teaching of the Thus-Gone One on the complete purification of the own realm of activity of the Bodhisattvas is well spoken and wonderful!" And the Blessed One said, "As I understand the meaning of what the Blessed One has spoken, and as I see it in my mind, the own realm of activity of the Bodhisattva who is skilled in means is all dharmas. Blessed One, it is like this: for example, there is no obstruction to all forms that are present and visible. Since there is no obstruction to the realm of the sky, all forms that exist are the realm of the sky. Blessed One, in the same way, by attaining perfect enlightenment, the realm of activity of the Bodhisattva who is skilled in means is all dharmas. Blessed One, it is like this: for example, for the sake of being without harm, all forms that exist are the realm of the sky. Whether it is a poisonous tree, a medicinal tree, a thorny tree, a flowering tree, a fruit tree, or a fragrant tree,
