Through hearing, there arises an eye, there arises wisdom, there arises knowledge, there arises understanding, there arises light. This is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering. Monks, this is, before the Dharma was heard, there arose an eye, there arose wisdom, there arose knowledge, there arose understanding, there arose light. This also is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering, it should be cultivated. Monks, this is, before the Dharma was heard, there arose an eye, there arose wisdom, there arose knowledge, there arose understanding, there arose light. Monks, these four aspects thus spoken are the noble truths. Thus, by repeating three times in twelve aspects, the vision of wisdom becomes exceedingly pure. Monks, having abandoned me, among the world with gods, with demons, with Brahma, with ascetics, with Brahmins, with lords of beings, and with gods and humans, there is no other unsurpassed, perfectly complete Buddha. Monks, whoever has this vision of wisdom, where these four noble truths are repeated three times in twelve aspects, is exceedingly pure. Thus, monks, I, among the world with gods, with demons, with Brahma, with ascetics, with Brahmins, with lords of beings, and with gods and humans, having manifestly and perfectly awakened to unsurpassed, perfectly complete Buddhahood, have realized it individually. This wisdom has also become visible to me, and it is an unprecedented liberation, and I have passed into nirvana without remainder, without taking rebirth. The Blessed One spoke thus, and the five monks rejoiced greatly at what the Blessed One had said. From the time of this prophecy, the venerable Kaundinya, having abandoned dust, gave rise to the stainless eye of the Dharma. Whatever has a nature of arising, all of that has a nature of ceasing. The Blessed One turned the wheel of Dharma exceedingly well, and having turned it, the gods of the earth proclaimed a sound of praise. Ascetic or
