Or, do you think there are some undefiled dharmas? He replied: Blessed One, with regard to those conditioned or unconditioned, defiled or undefiled dharmas that are not like dreams, there are no such dharmas at all. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Is there a cycle of the five destinies in a dream? He replied: Blessed One, that is not so. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? In a dream, do you think there is some path to be cultivated, based on which one neither becomes completely afflicted nor completely purified? He replied: Blessed One, that is not so. Blessed One, that dharma is not real, nor can it be designated, as all speech, words, and letters cannot designate it. The Noble Eight Thousand Stanza Prajnaparamita, Chapter Fifty-Six. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? In the center of a mirror, the image that appears, by what action is it manifestly assembled that causes sentient beings to go to hell, or to the realm of animals, or to the world of Yama, or to go to gods or humans? Do you think there is some action that is manifestly assembled? He replied: Blessed One, that is not so. Blessed One, that image, except for deceiving childish ordinary beings, is itself not real. So, by what action is it manifestly assembled that causes sentient beings to go to hell, or to the realm of animals, or to the world of Yama, or to go to gods or humans? How could there be such an action that is manifestly assembled? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Is there some path to be cultivated, based on which one neither becomes completely afflicted nor completely purified? He replied: Blessed One, that is not so. Blessed One, that image itself is not real, so how could there be a path to be cultivated, based on which one neither becomes completely afflicted nor completely purified? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Rivers, medicinal fields, dense forests, and steep mountains...

Furthermore, if a rock child were to arise from a bird's nest, what karma would manifestly accumulate for that rock child, causing sentient beings to go to hell, or to the realm of animals, or to the world of Yama, or to become humans, or to become gods who indulge in desire, or to become gods who indulge in form, or to become gods between the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, do you think there would be any karma that manifestly accumulates and leads to falling into these places? He replied: World Honored One, it is not so. World Honored One, that very rock child is also a non-existent thing, so what karma could manifestly accumulate, causing sentient beings to go to hell, or to the realm of animals, or to the world of Yama, or to become humans, or to become gods who indulge in desire, or to become gods who indulge in form, or to go to the gods who dwell in the formless realm between neither perception nor non-perception, how could there be karma that manifestly accumulates and leads to going to these places? The Buddha said: Subhuti, what do you think? For that rock child, relying on what path of cultivation, would it neither be completely defiled by afflictions, nor be completely purified, do you think there would be such a path of cultivation? He replied: World Honored One, that very rock child is also completely non-existent, so relying on what path of cultivation, would it neither be completely defiled by afflictions, nor be completely purified, how could there be such a path of cultivation? The Buddha said: Subhuti, what do you think? For a mirage, perceiving water where there is no water, and perceiving a river where there is no river, and perceiving a city where there is no city, and perceiving a garden where there is no garden, in this situation, what karma would manifestly accumulate, causing sentient beings to fall into hell, or to the realm between neither perception nor non-perception, do you think there would be any karma that manifestly accumulates and leads to falling into these places? He replied: World Honored One, apart from inverted perception and visual illusions, there is absolutely no water in a mirage, nor is there a river, nor is there a city, nor is there a garden. So what karma could manifestly accumulate, causing sentient beings to go to hell, or to the realm between neither perception nor non-perception
