Such roots of virtue that transform will be accomplished, and whatever Dharma is heard from those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, will never be forgotten until the attainment of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, without distraction, constantly abiding in a state of equanimity, possessing unobstructed fearlessness, uninterrupted fearlessness, equanimous fearlessness, rational fearlessness, relational fearlessness, meaningful fearlessness, and fearlessness that surpasses all the worlds, are these not also being taught? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, it is so, it is so. As you have said, from this Perfection of Wisdom, these three vehicles, namely the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and the Perfectly Complete Buddha Vehicle, are also extensively taught. Similarly, for the sake of completely embracing the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, it is even taught that the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas become fearless ones who surpass all the worlds, and this is also taught in a way that does not apprehend. What is the way that does not apprehend? It is the way that does not apprehend self, and the way that does not apprehend the knower and the seer, the way that does not apprehend form, the way that does not apprehend feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness, the way that does not apprehend the eye, the way that does not apprehend the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, the way that does not apprehend the earth element, the way that does not apprehend the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element, the way that does not apprehend the Perfection of Giving, the way that does not apprehend the Perfection of Morality, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Wisdom, the way that does not apprehend inner emptiness, and the way that does not apprehend the emptiness of the nature of non-things up to the other shore, the way that does not apprehend mindfulness.

The way of not focusing on the marks of things, the abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the way of not focusing on the marks of the eightfold noble path, the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, the eighteen unmixed qualities of a Buddha, and up to the all-knowingness, are shown by the way of not focusing on the marks of things. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the venerable Subhuti, "Venerable Subhuti, why is it that in this Perfection of Wisdom, the three vehicles are extensively shown by the way of not focusing on the marks of things? Why is it that for the sake of completely holding the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, even up to the point where the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas become courageous ones who are superior to all the worlds, it is shown by the way of not focusing on the marks of things?" Subhuti said, "Venerable Shariputra, because of the emptiness of the internal, the three vehicles are extensively shown by the way of not focusing on the marks of things. Because of the emptiness of the external and the emptiness of the nature of non-existence, the three vehicles are extensively shown by the way of not focusing on the marks of things. Because of the emptiness of the internal, for the sake of completely holding the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, it is shown even up to the point where the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas become courageous ones who are superior to all the worlds. Because of the emptiness of the external and the emptiness of the nature of non-existence, for the sake of completely holding the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, it is shown even up to the point where the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas become courageous ones who are superior to all the worlds." From the Eight Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, the chapter called "Difficult to Understand," the twenty-third chapter is complete. The twenty-third, the chapter called "Difficult to Understand."
