They impute existence to things that are nonexistent and untrue. They perceive sentient beings where there are no sentient beings. They perceive form where there is no form. They perceive feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness where there is no consciousness. They perceive sources where there are no sources. They perceive realms where there are no realms. They perceive dependent origination where there is no dependent origination. They perceive worldly dharmas where there are no worldly dharmas. They perceive supramundane dharmas where there are no supramundane dharmas. They perceive defiled dharmas where there are no defiled dharmas. They perceive undefiled dharmas where there are no undefiled dharmas. They perceive conditioned dharmas where there are no conditioned dharmas. They perceive unconditioned dharmas where there are no unconditioned dharmas. Thus, with the perversion of what is not, those who possess a mind that has become perverted manifestly perform the actions of body, speech, and mind, and therefore, they are not completely liberated from the cycle of the five destinies. Therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having gathered all virtuous dharmas in the Perfection of Wisdom, engages in the conduct of a Bodhisattva and manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Having manifestly awakened to Buddhahood, he completely liberates sentient beings from the cycle of the five destinies. Subhuti inquired: If all dharmas are empty of their own characteristics, how does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment and completely liberate sentient beings from the cycle of the five destinies? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, in this case, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, teaches sentient beings about suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path that leads to the cessation of suffering. He explains, establishes, places, expounds, distinctly expounds, clarifies, and truly declares the Four Noble Truths.

Here, all the virtuous Dharma, the aspects of enlightenment that cause the Three Jewels to rejoice, are completely gathered. Because the Three Jewels—the Buddha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Sangha Jewel—have appeared in the world, sentient beings are completely liberated from the cycle of the five paths. Subhuti (Rabjor) asked: "Bhagavan, will seeking suffering completely liberate one from suffering? Or will suffering itself liberate one from suffering? Will seeking the origin completely liberate one from suffering? Or will the origin itself liberate one from suffering? Will seeking cessation completely liberate one from suffering? Or will cessation itself liberate one from suffering? Will seeking the path completely liberate one from suffering? Or will the path itself liberate one from suffering?" The Bhagavan replied: "Subhuti, knowing suffering does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does suffering itself. Knowing the origin does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the origin itself. Knowing cessation does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does cessation itself. Knowing the path does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the path itself. Subhuti, what I have said about liberation from suffering is the equality of those four noble truths. Knowing suffering does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does suffering itself. Knowing the origin does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the origin itself. Knowing cessation does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does cessation itself. Knowing the path does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the path itself." Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, where there is no suffering, nor seeking of suffering; no origin, nor seeking of origin; no cessation, nor seeking of cessation; no path, nor seeking of path, what is that which is called the equality of the four noble truths?" The Bhagavan replied: "That is the suchness of those four noble truths, the suchness that is not mistaken, the suchness that is not other."
