Chapter Fifty-Five Chapter Fifty-Five Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, if it is said thus, what is the synonym for the conduct of a Bodhisattva?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, is so called because it is practiced for the sake of Bodhi. Therefore, it is called the conduct of a Bodhisattva." Asked: "Blessed One, where does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice?" The Blessed One said: "He practices in the emptiness of form, and in no way does he change his mind into duality. Thus he practices. He practices in the emptiness of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, and in no way does he change his mind into duality. Thus he practices. He practices in the emptiness of the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination, and in no way does he change his mind into duality. Thus he practices. He practices in the emptiness of the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. He practices in the emptiness of inner emptiness, and up to the emptiness of the nature of non-entity. He practices in the emptiness of the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. He practices in the emptiness of the mindfulness, the correct abandonment, the magical feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path. He practices in the emptiness of the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-differentiation, selflessness, and the emptiness of all dharmas. He practices in the emptiness of the Buddha-field, the Buddha-powers, the Buddha-fearlessnesses, the individual correct knowledges, the all-knowingness, the path-all-knowingness, and the basis-all-knowingness. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices thus."

Of emptiness, Samadhi, signless samadhi, wishless samadhi, supernormal knowledge, samadhi, dharani gates, the Tathagata's powers, fearlessness, individual accurate knowledge, and the Buddha's unmixed dharmas, one practices in emptiness. Up to the all-knowingness, one practices in emptiness. Purifying the Buddha-field, maturing sentient beings, eloquence, and the manifestation of letters, one practices in emptiness. Entering into letters and entering into non-letters, one practices in emptiness. One practices in the emptiness of form. One practices in the emptiness of the conditioned realm and the unconditioned realm, so that in any way, the mind does not change into two, thus one practices. The Twenty-Five Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita, Chapter Sixty-Two. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, thus practicing in the Prajnaparamita, is practicing in Bodhi, therefore it is called the practice of the Bodhisattva. Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti asked the Bhagavan thus: O Lord, if we call Buddha, Buddha, what is the synonym for Buddha? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, the true meaning is called Buddha, Subhuti, thus he manifestly and completely awakened to the true Dharma, therefore he is called Buddha. Because he thoroughly understands the true meaning, therefore he is called Buddha. Subhuti, thus he manifestly and completely awakened to all dharmas as they are, therefore he is called Buddha. Subhuti asked: O Lord, if we call Bodhi, Bodhi, the name of Bodhi, What is the synonym? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, the name Bodhi is the synonym for emptiness. That is the synonym for Suchness. This is the non-erroneous Suchness, and the non-other Suchness, the Dharma-nature, the Dharma-dhatu, and the Dharma-sthita.

And, the absence of faults in the Dharma, and the supreme word of the ultimate truth. Furthermore, Subhuti, that which is called "enlightenment" is suchness that is not mistaken, suchness that is not other, suchness that does not change into another form; therefore, it is called "enlightenment." Furthermore, Subhuti, it is like this: that which is called "enlightenment" is merely a name and a sign; therefore, it is called "enlightenment." Furthermore, Subhuti, the meaning of truth is the meaning of enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, it is that which realizes all dharmas as merely names and signs; therefore, it is called "enlightenment." Furthermore, Subhuti, the meaning of non-differentiation is the meaning of enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, it is the enlightenment of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat; therefore, it is called "enlightenment." Furthermore, Subhuti, it is because the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have manifestly and completely awakened; therefore, it is called "enlightenment." Question: Bhagavan, what good roots of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices this enlightenment, practices the six perfections, practices all emptiness, practices the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, practices the noble truths, practices the dhyanas, practices the immeasurables, practices the formless attainments, practices the eight liberations, practices the nine successive abidings, practices emptiness, practices signlessness, practices wishlessness, practices the superknowledges, practices samadhi, practices the doors of dharani, practices the powers of the Tathagata, practices fearlessness, practices the individual perfect knowledges, practices the unmixed Buddha-dharmas, and practices up to the all-knowingness, are accumulated, diminished, established, increased, arise, cease, become completely defiled, or become completely purified? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, whatever Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices this enlightenment, practices the six perfections, practices all emptiness, practices the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, practices the noble truths, practices the dhyanas, practices the immeasurables
