Seventy-first Chapter: The Chapter on the Signs of Non-retrogression. Seventy-first Chapter: The Chapter on the Signs of Non-retrogression. The Hundred Thousand Verses on the Perfection of Wisdom, Volume 11. Thus having spoken, the venerable Subhūti addressed the Blessed One as follows: Blessed One, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with great qualities. Blessed One, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable qualities. Blessed One, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with unoriginated qualities. The Blessed One said: Subhūti, it is so, it is so. Subhūti, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with great qualities. Subhūti, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable qualities. Subhūti, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing is endowed with unoriginated qualities. Why is that? Because he is such that he has obtained the boundless and limitless wisdom that is not common to all Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and abiding in that wisdom, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is non-retrogressing, having manifested the individually self-realized wisdom, even if the world with gods, humans, and asuras were to ask, the answers would not be exhausted, having manifested the individually self-realized wisdom. Subhūti inquired: Blessed One, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, even in as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, with what manner, what mode, and what signs does he have the power to show the manners, modes, and signs of the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who is called non-retrogressing? Blessed One, where does the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva abide, and when practicing the six perfections, does he perfect the four mindfulnesses?
