Chapter Thirty-Nine: Establishing the Training of Bodhicitta Chapter Thirty-Nine: Establishing the Training of Bodhicitta Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One: "Blessed One, what are the aspects of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is irreversible? What are the qualities? What are the characteristics? How should we know that this Bodhisattva Mahasattva is irreversible?" Having asked thus, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: "Subhuti, in this case, all those explanations regarding the stages of ordinary beings, the stages of Hearers, the stages of Solitary Buddhas, the stages of Bodhisattvas, and the stages of Tathagatas, are all unchanging in Suchness. There is no differentiation, no duality, and no possibility of making it dual. That is, entering Suchness as it is, without differentiating Suchness. Thus, entering without differentiation, one who enters in this way, having heard Suchness as it is, transcends it. There is no doubt about whether those Suchnesses are single, dual, or non-dual. That is not speaking randomly, but speaking meaningfully, not speaking meaningless words. Not looking at what others have done or not done, but seeking good speech. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses those aspects, those qualities, and those characteristics should be known as irreversible." Asked: "Blessed One, with what aspects, what qualities, and what characteristics should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva be known as irreversible?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, all dharmas are without aspects, without qualities, and without characteristics." Asked: "Blessed One, if all dharmas are without aspects, without qualities, and without characteristics, then from which dharmas does one not regress, and is called an irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattva?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, any Bodhisattva Mahasattva
